The WJPS Weekly Update

The National Honor Society will be hosting a food drive for City Harvest starting from Monday, December 11th through Friday, December 22nd, please drop off non-perishable food items at the middle school and high school entrances.

The WJPS Annual Toy Drive has begun and will run until December 15. The toys will be distributed by the non-profit organization Mended Little Hearts to benefit children at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital. Put your donation of new unwrapped toys, crafts, books or games in the decorated boxes next to the elevators.

The Ugly Sweatshirt Decorating Contest is Tuesday, December 12 after school. Students will form teams to decorate a sweatshirt for a teacher. The sweatshirts will be judged during the Talent Show. There will also be a festive Holiday Hat Decorating Activity. Admission is $5.00, collected at the door on December 12.

Big Holiday Sale going on at the school store. Buy a plushy and get a free fruit roll up. Fruit roll ups are not for sale, getting the plushy is the only way you can get one!

On Wednesday, December 20th WJPS sophomores will be going on an ice skating trip to the World Ice Arena in Flushing. The cost to attend is $15. Permission slips have been sent out, if you have not received one please speak to one of your student government representatives. Slips and money need to be handed in to Mr. Steve Solimando by December 13th. Any late entries will not be accepted.

This is especially important for high school students. Please view your grades, and if you need help to raise your grade, please speak to your teachers.

Are you a Senior and looking to perform in the Winter Talent Show? Then you are in luck because there will be practice for the senior act in the winter talent show on Tuesday December 5, 7th period in Ms. Bonanni’s room 354. We need Seniors to join so come on down!

As we get back into the school routine, please remember that students need to be in WJPS uniform every single day

All tops must have the WJPS logo on them, including sweatshirts.

• Shirts should be Navy, White, Black or Gold. No other sweatshirts should be worn throughout the school day.
• Pants, shorts and skirts should be plain and in colors khaki, navy or black.
• No jeans, pajama pants, or denim bottoms of any kind are permitted.
• Sneakers and/or closed toe shoes should be worn each day. No crocs or slides are to be worn.

DePhillips Sports at 33-05 Francis Lewis Boulevard, 718-445-5420. For a small fee, they will add the WJPS logo to a top that you have purchased at a store of your choice. The top must be a crew-neck t-shirt or a polo shirt in the following colors only: navy, black, white or gold. The sweatshirt must be navy or black.
