Heritage Happenings

March 6, 2023

Dear Heritage Families

This month we will begin our first steps in placement of our K-4 students in their 2023-2024 classrooms. Our staff is committed to knowing and valuing every child as a unique individual and responding to his or her specific needs. We value input from you, as you know your children best! We have attached our Learning Environment Form for you to fill out. The purpose of this form is to provide caregivers an opportunity to share any information they believe needs to be highly considered when we are organizing classes for next year. Please let us hear how your child learns best and any specific needs you feel they have. We will use these forms to help us match your child to a teacher who will best fit their learning environment style!

Love,

Dr. Megan Sutton & Mrs. Jessica Hanks

HIE Cafe Updates

We are so thrilled to have our visitors back in our building this year! We wanted to take a moment to send a few friendly reminders regarding our lunch process and procedures for our guests as they are visiting during their child’s lunchtime:

  • Students are allowed to bring one (1) friend to eat with them at the back visitor table if a parent is there for lunch

  • Parents and guests are not permitted to provide outside/food drink to any other student during their visit due to allergy concerns

  • Food delivery services ( i.e. Door Dash) are not permitted for students, and these services will be turned away

Thank you for your understanding and we look forward to seeing you!

All Kids Bike

Heritage Primary is seeking support to bring the All Kids Bike PE Program to our Cubs! This program will teach EVERY child how to ride a bike in grades Kindergarten and 1st Grade. We are fundraising for $6,258 and need your help! You can make a difference by donating here https://stridereducationfoundation-bloom.kindful.com/heritage-primary-school-2023/heritage-primary-school. You can also scan the QR code to donate directly to our fundraising page. Feel free to share this information with friends and family members. It's just that easy to donate!

Know any local businesses that would like to support our efforts? Share this information with them. We would love the community's support for bringing this opportunity to our Cubs!

Abilities Awareness Week

Our Kindergarten, First and Second Grades will be having an Abilities Awareness Week on March 13 - 17. During this week our students will learn from various people and organizations about all kinds of different abilities. Some of the organizations that are represented will be:

  • Love on a Leash
  • St. Joseph Institute for the Deaf
  • Missouri School for the Blind
  • Paraquad
  • Wentzville School District Speech Language Pathologist & Autism Specialists

We are thrilled to invite these wonderful organizations into our building and have our students discover new things about their specialties.

Arrival Safety Concerns

As a campus, we begin active student supervision at 8:05 a.m. each morning, which includes adults being present at our entrance locations to actively monitor student behavior. We have noticed an increase in students being dropped off or walkers walking to school and arriving as early as 7:30 a.m. This has caused concern for student safety, and we kindly ask that you do not drop off students, including walkers, earlier than 8:05 a.m. Thank you in advance for keeping our students safe!

Come Home and Join Team WSD

Calling all WSD graduates or residents! Come Home and become a part of the WSD family.

First-year teachers who are Wentzville graduates can earn up to $7,500 ($2,500 each year) for a three-year loyalty incentive, and any Wentzville graduate who comes home from working elsewhere to teach at WSD will receive a one-time $2,000 stipend.

Visitor vs. Volunteer

Please take a moment to review our district volunteer and visitor approval process. Please click this link for more information. As a reminder, you need to update your background check each year, and it can be a timely process. If you have any questions about this, please reach out to our front office team.

Attendance Reminders

If you know your student will not be in attendance, please call the Primary office at 636-327-3846 and press 1 and the Intermediate office at 636-327-3839 and press 1. You can also send an email to the Primary office at attendance.heritagep@wsdr4.org and the Intermediate office at attendance.heritagei@wsdr4.org. Also please remember to leave your student's name, the reason for absence, the date, and the homeroom teacher's name in either the email or voicemail.

Students will not be released for pick up after 2:30 p.m. so please plan accordingly if you may need to pick up your student early from either office.

Breakfast & Lunch

We already have some students who have negative lunch accounts. Please ensure that you are putting money in your child's lunch account.

Heritage Primary Breakfast & Lunch Menu

Heritage Intermediate Breakfast & Lunch Menu

We encourage all families to fill out the Free & Reduced Lunch form. Not only could you qualify for a free or reduced lunch rate, but this provides our district with the information it needs to secure Title 1 funds.

We have included a PDF of the Free and Reduced Lunch Application and also have paper copies available in the office.

The application can seem confusing, so if you would like us to help you fill it out-please call our office. We would be happy to help you ensure you are getting your best lunch rate!

Birthday Treat Policy Updated

Birthdays are special to your child and we want them to enjoy this occasion. At school, each teacher can decide how to handle classroom celebrations in a way that respects the instructional time and learning needs of all the students.

You are welcome to send non-edible birthday treats into your child’s classroom to celebrate their birthday if you choose.

What is Helping Hands?
