A Principal's Perspective
Greetings,
We have 10 days left before we head on Winter Break! Our counselor Ms. Nassar and teachers are reviewing students progress and assessing what classes students still have a chance of earning a credit in. We are encouraging students to use these last few weeks to wrap up as many courses as possible.
We will begin pulling students next week in both high school and middle school to discuss school placement for next semester. Areas we will be focusing on to make this decision include, discipline, attendance, teacher recommendation, and academic progress.
It is crunch time! Students MUST use in school time and out of school time to reach their goals. I've shared with many students that , " we can't want it more than you and we can't make you want it." Please help reinforce this message at home!
I encourage parents and guardians to chat with students and ask, "what can you do to help them reach their goals?"
As always, you can reach out to the school at 317-532-2996 with any questions and concerns.
Don't forget to ask your student the following questions:
1. How was your day or week?
2. How many credits do you still need to graduate?
3. What did you do today to help you get closer to your goal?
4. Anything I can do to help?
5. You know I love you right?
As always feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns!
Again, thank you for allowing us to serve your students!
Middle School Moment
At Renaissance, we try to give our students different experiences that take them out of their comfort zones and allow them to engage with the community. Social Worker Corner-- Social Work Insight
From the Desk of the Social Worker………
This month as a social service worker my focus is on providing resources for the holiday season to some of our families that may be in need.
According to freefinancialhelp.net families are in need of additional assistance all year long however around the holiday seasons are the worst. You may be seeking employment, possibly laid off, downsized, terminated, your paid barely minimum wage, or your check may just be circumventing in a system somewhere causing a delay with you moving forward and having the “BEST” holiday possible. Click on the links below to assist yourself and immediate family, find help for a family member, friend or pay-it-forward and help someone you do not know. The Salvation Army, Toys for Tots, Lions Clubs International, Catholic Charities, and Make-A-Wish Foundation are resources to and for all. You may have a family member that is incarcerated; there is a prison fellowship link below as well. Reach out and ask questions!

Raptor Visitor Management System
Currently, every visitor who enters our building is asked to present a state of federal ID, such as a Driver’s License, and it is scanned into the Raptor System. Once the visitor has been approved, the office staff enters the reason, destination of the visit and the Raptor System will print a photo ID visitor badge. If for any reason a parent or guardian does not have a U.S. government-issued ID, the staff member can use any form of ID and manually enter the person’s name into the Raptor System. Beginning November 11, 2019, this will apply to our PreK-4 campuses as well.
A photo ID visitor badge is not required for those who visit our schools to drop off an item or pick-up paperwork at the front desk. Further, they may drop off their items(s) or remain in the waiting area until their student is available. Please be aware that current practices established in each building remain in effect.
The safety of our students is our highest priority. The Raptor Visitor Management System provides us with a consistent process of knowing who is in our buildings at all times as well as a tool to identify those individuals who may present a danger to our students and staff.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation and support towards enhancing school safety protocols in our district. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us here at Renaissance at 317-532-2996.
