Principal's Den
I hope you are all healthy and doing well. This week we enter into the month of February with so much going on. In celebration of African-American history month we have several activities planned including a special event on February 23 starting at 8:15am, please mark your calendars. We are continuing with STAR benchmark assessments and preparing to have our EL learners take the ELPAC administration on February 27. Next week we will host a Family Literacy Night from 5:30-7:30 on Tuesday, February 7th. This is another event that you will not want to miss, I hope to see you there.
Tomorrow we are hosting an AVID walk-through and several other schools will be visiting our site to learn about all the great AVID strategies we employ across all grade levels.
If you have a students in grades 3-5, I encourage you to register them for a FEV tutoring account. I have shared the flyer to sign up on Parent Square and you can always ask your child's teacher or contact the office for support. Students enrolled in Think Together are already registered.
All students have access to Footsteps2Brilliance and Freckle through their Chromebooks. These programs are excellent to use at home and help promote literacy. Freckle may also be used to provide students with math practice and support.
Thank you for your support in keeping all of our kids safe. This includes respecting school zone speed limits and looking out for our pedestrians. I appreciate you for helping students cross the street and for your patience during drop-off and pick-up. Now that we have our TK also dismissing at 2:05pm we have more vehicles and traffic during pick-up. Please plan accordingly. We are trying our best to supervise our students during dismissal. Thank you for your understanding and for giving yourself enough time during after school pick-up.
Thank you all for your continued support. Together we will work to make this the best school year for our lions! LEADERS BY EXAMPLE!!
Thank you,
At Cloverdale we strive to be Leaders by Example. As I mention to our students during announcements, this means that we always try to do the right thing even when no one is looking.
As part of our school's Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support (PBIS), we also learn to ROAR. This is a matrix that exemplifies our core values of being Respectful, Organized, Accountable, and Responsible.
Our goal is to be college ready once we graduate from High School and that starts today!
Sincerely,
Genaro García
Principal
