Educational Opportunities

Dicamba Herbicide Use in Indiana - Training offered for Hamilton County Applicators

You may have noticed herbicides containing dicamba have been in the news recently based on off-target movement (drift) complaints being filed with pesticide regulatory officials in Indiana and other states. Effective November 4, 2017, the Indiana Pesticide Review Board classified all pesticide products containing at least 6.5% dicamba, and having agricultural use labels, as Restricted Use Pesticides (RUPs) in Indiana.

Among other new label restrictions, prior to applying any of the above mentioned three products, every applicator must complete state-required dicamba training. Purdue Extension Hamilton County has scheduled a Dicamba Herbicide Use in Indiana training on Friday, February 9th from 1:30pm-3:30pm at the Hamilton County 4-H Fairgrounds in Noblesville. RSVP by calling 317-776-0854 or e-mail glmarsha@purdue.edu by February 7th, 2018.

Visit the Office of Indiana State Chemist Website for more information. Frequently asked questions can be found here in the dicamba RUP applicator notice. You may find information on becoming certified by taking the Core Exam here.
