https://www.eventbrite.com/e/2017-blind-idol-singing-competition-semi-finals-raleigh-nc-tickets-31761151459
The National Blind Idol Semi Final event is hosted by Insightful Visionaries, a Raleigh based 501(c)3 non-profit, and RLCB for IFB Solutions. The event was inspired by the versatility of blind musicians, Anastasia Powell and Chris Flint, both of whom are blind and employees of IFB Solutions. The two decided to organize a competition that would feature the talents of individuals who are legally blind. Chris Flynt, believes “you don’t need to see to be a performer, or to enjoy music. You just have to feel it in your heart”. The competition celebrates its 3rd year.

Novices are welcome, and lifejackets plentiful: all that’s required is a willingness to try new things and get wet. We’ll have evening activities too.
Camp instructors include certified Teachers for the Visually Impaired and Orientation & Mobility Specialists, along with Camp Dogwood’s summer staff and a few favorite counselors from our SEE programs.
Who: Camp is open to rising 7-12th graders who are blind or visually impaired and are active and have age-appropriate independent living skills.
Cost: FREE. SEE Camp Abilities H2O is supported by the IFB Solutions Foundation (formerly A Brighter Path Foundation), and is FREE of charge for all students. Space is limited for the 2017 camp.

Goalball – Friday Nights 6 pm to 8 pm at Governor Morehead School for the Blind
The Raleigh Avengers Goalball team is back!!!
In order to make this a success, we need you and your support. Please mark your calendar and bring your friends.
What is Goalball? The sport, exclusively for athletes with visual impairments, consists of two halves of 12 minutes each and athletes wear blackout masks on a playing court. The object of the game is to roll the ball into the opposite goal while opposing players try to block the ball with their bodies. Bells inside the balls help orient the players, indicating the direction of the on-coming ball. Therefore, while play is in progress, complete silence is required in the venue to allow the players to instantly react to the ball.
