Summer reading!
Students in grades K-4 will record their books on the paper gameboard that will come in their report card or that you can get at either public library. On the first day of school, turn in your gameboard with your books listed or have them written down on a piece of paper.
Happy reading!
James Patterson's awesome resources!
ReadKiddoRead.com is a fantastic site for parents and kids looking for new titles to read! There are tips for kids of all ages, but I love the extensive ideas for getting boys to read. Check it out and thanks to Mr. Patterson for sharing his love of reading!
Barnes and Noble has a wonderful summer reading program this summer: read 8 books and tell a little about them and get a FREE book! Choose from titles such as Mercy Watson, Pete the Cat, Pinkalicious, Escape from Mr. Lemoncello's Library, I Survived, The Night Gardener and more! Click here for the link to their website. Click HERE for the Reading Journal you can fill out.
Nutmeg books are our own state of Connecticut book award. There are 2 categories, elementary for students in 1st - 3rd grades and intermediate for grades 4th - 6th, as well as categories for older students. Of course kids can read from either category! This is a terrific way to find some awesome books. The public libraries have multiple copies and often have these titles on CD for listening to during those long car rides this summer!

PBS Kids Design Squad
PBS Kids has a terrific site with design challenges for your family to try! Some are easy, such as getting a balloon to hover in one spot and then move with air currents. Some are harder, such as designing and building a tiny alarm. This is for all you inventors, makers and creators out there! Click HERE to take a look!
Camp GoNoodle?
I am waiting to see if there is a new set of activities for 2016. The 2015 resources are still available if you'd like to try them!
Many students have used GoNoodle in their classrooms for a brain break, and this summer they can try Camp GoNoodle! Week 1 was about Friendship and Week 2 is about Superheroes! Each week there are Camp Songs to learn as well as things to make and do!
