GT-Gifted & Talented
The month of February was an exciting one. We spent our time learning about the Engineering and Design process of building a Viking Longship. We explored the parts and how to construct them. Then using a limited amount of resources in true Viking fashion students constructed, improved upon and tested out their Longships. Data was collected during three trial runs to test for length, distance, time, and buoyancy. We then used this data to create a graph in which to analyze the information. It was one exciting month!
During the month of March, we will move away from the Scandinavian Vikings and begin to study and explore the travels of Marco Polo. Students will explore the route that Marco Polo traveled, understand why he's considered to be a globilazer, and create a map like ancient cartographers. Hopefully students will gain an understanding of the legendary origin of a popular water game with the same name.
