Kramer's Korner
A Weekly Newsletter from Mrs. Kramer's Class: 12/15-12/19
Weekly Note from Mrs. Kramer
What a crazy week! I was so happy to see so many kids on Thursday after having a class size in the single digits. We made the best of it with an intimate Hanukkah party, fun math review games, Hanukkah Harry, and holiday rotations this morning. Thank you for being such responsible parents and keeping your kids at home if they weren't feeling up to par. I look forward to a fantastic 2015 with all of you!!!
Important Dates
Mon. 1/5: School Resumes
Fri. 1/16: We lead Kabbalat Shabbat.
Academics
Over the last few weeks, we have been so busy in all of our subject areas. In language arts, we have been doing lots of creative writing. Our autobiographies are adorable so far. The kids have been working on their own narratives in Writers' Workshop, and we are about to start a fun story about having "Super Power Glasses." In math, subtraction is the name of the game. I am trying to make the subject of borrowing more exciting with lots of games to practice. This week, we used a subtraction app. and we played math basketball. In science, we are really enjoying geology. The kids have studied the layers of the earth and about various minerals. When we get back, we'll go in-depth to learn about the 3 types of rock.

Hebrew
Dear 2nd grade parents,
As the holiday of Chanukah חֲנֻכָּה arrived, at the beginning of every lesson we lit the Chanukiahחֲנֻכִּיָּה together, said the blessings, sang holiday songs and listened to stories. We also completed the work in our Holiday booklet חַג שָׂמֵחַ .
Another great way to learn vocabulary words for each Hebrew letter by dancing with “KROVEE”
(Grover- Sesame st )Attached video- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=afTZPoT75cY
Wishing you a bright Chanukah,
Shabbat shalom, שַׁבָּת שָׁלוֹם
