HANNAH MCADAMS: ACADEMIC NINJA
You can turn off the sun, but I'm still gonna shine
Who am I?
I'm different, but that's good because there is no one I'd rather be than me. I value numerous things including affection(love and caring), friendships, having a family, knowledge, leadership, religion, time freedom, truth, honesty, and order(tranquility, stability, conformity). I have a well balanced, realistic sense of self-esteem and my skills include chess, quiz bowl playing, music, and I'm good at school. I am interested in becoming a veterinarian. I am a visual and musical learner. What that means is that I need sound and sight to learn better. When deciding a career choice these things are key elements because different things can go with different jobs. For example, a person who is very organized and who enjoys order and tranquility would make a good librarian.

Information About Veterinarians
Veterinarians care for the health of animals. They diagnose, treat, or research medical conditions and diseases of pets, livestock, and animals in zoos, racetracks, and laboratories. In 2010 the median wage for veterinarians was $82,040. Its job outlook is expected to grow 36% from 2010 to 2020. It is in the agricuture, food, and natural resource cluster and it is also in the health science cluster. The work schedule includes working long hours and some even work nights or weekends. They also may have to respond to emergencies outside of scheduled work hours. About 1 out of 4 vets worked more than 50 hours per week in 2010. The work enviroment is stressful and usually noisy with sick pets and anxious owners. Also, they could be scratched, bitten, or kicked at anytime. Something interesting about their job is that, if they work in zoos, veterinarians can handle some of the most dangerous animals in the world! They don't have to just watch the animals from behind thick glass windows, they pet them and everything!
How do I Get There?
I would like to go to Cornell University. It is located in Ithaca, New York. They have the right program that I need and with this research it has proven to be a well organized, sophisticated university. It is very far from home because we live in Arkansas and the school is in New York. To become a veterinarian I must receive a D.V.M or a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. The cost to attend Cornell University is an estimated $61,618 per year. I would like to receive academic and music scholarships.
