Biography

Selena Quintanilla Perez was born on April 16,1971. She was born in Lake Jackson, Tx. Her occupation was being a singer. Her parents where Abraham Jr and Marcella Quintanilla. Selena was the younges of the three Quintanilla children.

Early Life

Around the age 10, Selena became the lead singer in her family band "Selena's y los Dino's". Selena grew up speaking English , but her father taught her Spanish so her songs can be more to her race. Her father owned a restaurant called Papagallos there was her first performance with the Dino's.

Accomplishments

Recieved 8 awards at Lo Nuestro, 34 Tejano Music Awards, Kuno's people's choice, and first Tejano artist to win Grammy. Selena won on the Tejano Music Awards for the Best Female vocalist running even through 1886 to 1996.

Important in American history

Selena was the first Mexican American women "Chicano" to make big in Tejano music if it weren't for selling the Latin explosion of the century may not have been possible.

1. Known as the "Queen of Tejano Music" , Selena was a beloved Latin recording artist who was killed by the president of the Fan club.
