Seguin Elementary School

This Week:

Literacy: We will focus on author's purpose.

Writing: We will begin writing expository and procedural texts.

Math: We will continue our geometry unit that focuses on two-dimensional and three-dimensional shapes and the relationships among them.

Social Studies: We will learn about economics and identify examples of wants versus needs.

Science: We will continue our unit on exploring how different forms of energy are important to everyday life.

Spelling Words

Beginning this week, we will not be sending home an actual list of words for studying. We will study "Long E" words in class and your child should be able to generate 5 words independently for their spelling test on Friday.

Here are a few examples of words to start with:

Background Checks

We are beginning to plan our Field Trip's for the year so please confirm with the office that your background checks are complete if you wish to attend with your child. If you have not completed one, you can get them from the office as well. Only parent's with approved background checks will be able to attend field trips with us.

November 21 - Coyote Chase Race at Weatherford College 9:00 a.m.

First Grade Updates!

*Homework: One Breath Boxes and read for 20 minutes per night, please sign your child's reading log. :) For math, please practice counting to 120 and writing numbers 1 - 120. Writing 20 numbers per night until complete is an easy way to accomplish this task.

*Temperature - Feel free to send a hoodie or light jacket for your child to wear in class if they are cold throughout the day.
