JCM Winter Concert
Congratulations to all the chorus students on a great winter concert! The 6th graders sang "Winter Lullaby" beautifully and then gave a fun energy to "The Fox." The 7th graders showed off their serious side with a beautiful round and then inspired us with their version of Sara Bareilles' "Brave." The 8th graders showed that they can sing with intensity on “Fum, Fum, Fum” and tackled some challenging harmonies in “Stars I Shall Find.” The 7th and 8th graders ended their concert with a fantastic performance of “Have it All” by Jason Mraz. Job well done, amazing singers!

Dear 8th Grade Parents & Guardians
Eighth grade is flying by, and we are beginning the transition to high school. There are some important events coming up as we prepare for this next step. Please mark your calendars and contact us with any questions.
On Wednesday, January 8, at 6:00 pm, Evansville High School staff will present high school registration information to the parents and guardians of the class of 2024. This meeting will take place in the EHS Performing Arts Center. Staff will share information about transitioning to ninth grade, course selection, graduation requirements, extracurricular participation and post-secondary preparation. Students will hear this same presentation the next morning at school, but are of course welcome to attend.
On Thursday, January 9, eighth graders will visit the high school to take a tour and learn about moving on to ninth grade, course selection, graduation requirements, extracurricular participation and post-secondary preparation.
Eighth grade conferences will be held at J.C. McKenna on Thursday, January 9, from 3:15 to 8:00 pm. You will have the opportunity to talk about progress, teachers’ recommendations for high school placement, and 9th grade class registration. Students will also share their academic and career plans. Your student’s team teacher will connect with you to schedule this appointment.
EHS counselors will come to J.C. McKenna on Thursday, January 16, to help students enter their 9th grade course selections online. Students need to consult with parents/guardians to select the courses they wish to take in ninth grade, and return the completed paperwork to their team teachers by Tuesday, January 14.
If you have any questions about the registration process or any of these events, please contact us.
