Many Hands, One Mason!
October 27, 2018
Dear Mason Families,
Happy Saturday! I am writing this post from the comfort of my tent on the Mason front lawn!!! Thank you so much for your support and generosity over the past couple of months and for making our 2018 Fun Run experience one to remember. As I camped outside last night, every hour, someone came back to check on me to make sure I was okay and to check and see if I needed anything at all. I have never experienced anything like this in my life and I so proud to be a part of the Mason community! Mason is a great place to learn because of our wonderful staff and caring families!
The amount of people who came out for our "Lighting of the Lawn" was amazing and it just shows how much we care for our learners and our community. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!! The pumpkins that were carved were awesome; so many talented artists in the Mason community! If you would like your pumpkin back, please make sure you pick it up from the front lawn by 12pm Sunday!
We are so excited to offer so many events for the Mason community this weekend! We would love to see as many families as possible at our Mason PTO sponsored Fall Fest today from 11-3 pm! There will be ton of activities available for all family members present; it will be a good time for all. Feel free to stop by anytime and event will take place even if it rains. We also have Mason Family night at the Haunted Garage Productions this Sunday, October 28, 2018 from 6:00-9:00 p.m. (rain date Monday, October 29th 7:00-9:00 p.m.) The haunted house is located at 19520 Mack, Grosse Pointe Farms, MI 48236. There is a cost of $11 per person, and it is a Mason PTO Fundraiser. No scare blinky light available, mc/visa available at the door, OR purchase your tickets at the Fall Fest!! Students must be accompanied by a paying adult.
Wednesday (10.31) is Halloween and it is also a half day at Mason. Please make sure you discuss departure plans with your child so they know what to expect at the end of the day. We are excited to see everyone in their school approved Halloween costumes Wednesday (you don't have to wear one if you don't want to). Remember, masks, weapons and clothing with offensive language or logos are not permitted. Parents are welcome to attend our parade (starts at 8:45 am) and classroom parties (starts at 9:45 am)!
Have a wonderful weekend,
Roy Bishop, Jr.

NOTES FROM THE MAIN OFFICE
Arrival and dismissal can be a very busy time here at Mason and we want to keep our school as safe as possible. Thank you for your help in making sure our arrival and dismissal rules are followed.
During arrival time: Please allow your students to enter the building on their own if possible. It's a great way to help your child build independence and allows our learners an opportunity to start their school day off on the right foot. Please know that our staff is here to give them any assistance they might need. If you child has anxiety about entering the school by themselves, please let us know so we can work with you and your child on a plan that leaves everyone feeling successful.
During dismissal time: We try to ensure our learners at Mason are learning every minute of the school day and towards the end of the day, before dismissal, teachers are wrapping up their lessons and getting our learners ready to go home. We are asking that students be picked up on the playground unless an early dismissal has been called in ahead of time. Please do not enter the building to wait for your child. This is courtesy that we can't extend to every Mason parent if they asked so we want to be fair and consistent to everyone involved.
Thank you for your understanding and patience.
