REMEMBER to promote the GCS Holiday Reading Challenge before break. The more we promote it the better participation we will get.
Remember an email was sent with six translations of the materials as well.
BOB Facilities Fee UPDATE
The facility payment for elementary, middle, and high schools Battle of the Books will be $100.
It is due ON or BEFORE December 11, 2017.
Please make check payable to Guilford County Board of Education. School checks and PTA checks are acceptable.
Send all payments to Lakenan Jumper, Accounting, Eugene Street.
Please check with your school treasurer regarding budget transfers.
THIS FEE IS NONREFUNDABLE. A commitment to play is a commitment to pay. If you have any questions, please call Jackie at 370-2357.
DLMI Update
You and your principals should have received the an email Friday from DPI. It was sent to everyone that has a DLMI log in.
The End-Users Devices Section of the DLMI needs to be updated by you before January 12th.(This includes only 2 questions)
Please inform your principal that you are aware and will be completing the report online before the deadline. If you can’t remember your NCID log in or need assistance, please check your email for detailed instructions for issues you may be having logging in.

Each week, the Office of Grants and Opportunities publishes a Weekly Grant Opportunities Report for which Guilford County Schools and its employees are eligible to apply. Additionally, we celebrate grant award winners who have received funds to further the education of our Guilford County Schools students.
International Literacy Association
- Scope: The International Literacy Association solicits applications for the Nila Banton Smith Teacher as Researcher Grant program. The grant is given to a teacher who shows outstanding leadership in translating theory and current research into practice in developing content area literacy.
- Deadline: Jan. 15.
- Funds: $5,000 awards.
- Eligibility: PreK-12 teachers who are members of the International Literacy Association. While classroom teachers receive preference, librarians, Title I teachers, classroom teachers, literacy coaches, and resource teachers are also eligible to apply.
- Areas: Proposed projects must be completed within two years of the award date.

Replacement Instructions:
- Please submit a help desk ticket for tech services repair department to put in the replacement battery. If anyone other than repair (they are Lenovo certified) does it, the remaining warranty on the laptop itself will be void.

Professional Learning Opportunity
- In January and February 2018, the Digital Teaching and Learning Division at the NCDPI will be hosting regional CONNECT.SHARE.GROW professional learning events.
- Developed for instructional technology facilitators (ITF), school library media coordinators (SLMC), and instructional coaches (IC), each regional event will include whole group, breakout, and unconference sessions.
- These CONNECT.SHARE.GROW events will focus on the topic of digital content. Instructional support staff will have opportunities to learn more about best practices for using digital content in the classroom and strategies for supporting teachers as they integrate digital content in instruction. NCWiseOwl related sessions will be offered as well as opportunities for participants to network and share timely topics in unconference breakout sessions.
- Registration opens December 1, 2017. Participants will be accepted on a first come, first served basis. Once a session is filled to capacity, it will be removed from the registration form.
