Discovery Elementary School
October 11, 2020
From the Principal
Discovery Families,
We continue to do all we can to keep our Staff and Students safe at school. As Central District Health reports an increase in positive cases, we must be mindful of our protocols. I understand there are also questions about recommendations for this week and cases within our own schools.
If Central District Health puts us back in the Red Category, the current plan states we will transition to Online/Remote Learning in 48 hours. Your child's teacher will have the materials and supplies including devices ready to go! With that said, our Board of Trustees meets on Tuesday, which could result in a change. Once a decisions is made, there will be immediate communication from Discovery about the plan.
As we remain in school, our job is to limit exposures and the spread of the virus. We do this by physically distancing when possible, handwashing/sanitizing, and wearing masks. If there is an positive case or an exposure involving your child, you will be contacted directly. Our Health Services staff is trained in tracing known exposures. Simply, I want you to know if we believe your child has been exposed to a known case, we will call you and advise you specifically of the necessary steps.
There are several things families can do to help to avoid positive cases coming to Discovery. It is difficult because it's allergy and cold season! In these times, we must error on the side of caution and follow the guidance outlined below.
I desperately want us to stay in school! Your kids are truly amazing. They have exceeded our expectations in following our guidelines at school. Whatever the week brings, we will continue to work hard for our students. The kids deserve it!
Thank you for your support!

Masks & Physical Distancing
Please be an good example to our students by following the Mask and Distancing Expectations when you are on campus.
Adults and siblings dropping off and picking up students must wear a mask. If you are out of your vehicle or on school grounds, a mask must be worn. We understand everyone forgets. Duties usually have extras and will offer you one.
Our Mustangs Mask Up! Thank you for supporting us and setting those expectations. Again, kids are so resilent and flexible. It's amazing!
