Lakeview Weekly
Week of May 24th - 28th
Note From Principal Pete
Dear #weRLVE Families -
Thank you for your flexibility this past Friday when we had to "pivot" quickly to distance learning. We are grateful that it was not a credible threat. We appreciate your flexibility and for supporting your child from home. I have included a talking point for your student if they still have questions about this past Friday, as well as, the "all clear" message from our district.
We look forward to seeing our students back at school tomorrow!
You may have heard from the news, your parents or a friend that someone said they wanted to hurt a school. These comments are rare, but they happen. It’s important to know when people say things like this, all the adults around you take a lot of time to make sure everything and everyone is safe in our schools. Making sure everything is okay takes time, which is why we had a distance learning day this past Frida. Our school is safe and will be safe when you come back to school next week. I can't wait to see you next week.
Lakeville Area Schools Families and Staff,
We are contacting you to report that the threat that caused the transition to distance learning today has been investigated by the Lakeville Police Department and has been determined not to be credible.
As always student safety and well-being are our top priorities. We take all threats seriously and as with any ongoing investigation limited information can be shared. However, we are now able to confirm that a bomb threat was made overnight to Lakeville South High School and other unnamed schools in the Lakeville Area School district. As law enforcement officials finalize their investigation, students will continue learning at home for the remainder of the day and all on-site school and community education activities will be canceled for this evening. All activities will resume as normal tomorrow, Saturday, May 22. School will resume as normal Monday, May 24.
As you talk with your child about today’s events, here is a resource you may find helpful. As always, our staff are available to provide support to students as needed when they return to school next week. If your child is expressing significant fear or distress over the weekend stemming from this incident, and you want a Student Services staff member to contact you on Monday, please complete this form.
We appreciate your patience as our law enforcement agencies conducted their investigation today.
Thank you,
Lakeville Area Schools
Assistant Principal of the Week

Do you want your child to have their iPad over the summer?
If so, you must fill out this form otherwise your child's iPad will be collected at the end of the year.
We are nearing the end of our first full year of our 1:1 iPad program. Now families may be wondering what to do with your iPads at the end of the school year. Our District has announced that at the end of the school year, students will have the option to keep their iPads through the summer. This will be beneficial for students in summer learning programs. It will also empower other students to continue learning on their own by having access to high quality digital resources including curriculum-specific tools and eBooks.
3 Easy Steps to Keep District-Issued iPad Over Summer Break:
Read the Acceptable Use Policy
Read the iPad Loan Agreement
Sign the district Family/Student Agreement for iPad Use form, confirming you have read and accept your responsibilities. Please complete one form per student by May 28.

A Great Summer Job, Resume Builder and Way to Serve!
If you know someone looking for a paid, local, summer job, encourage them to look at AmeriCorps. The final date for Member selection is Wednesday, May 19.
This summer the Community Education Department has been awarded 6 AmeriCorps staff members from ServeMinnesota to help out with the learning, health and wellness needs of students. One member will focus on early childhood at CLEC, three will work with K-5 students at Summer Adventure and Enrichment sites and two will support middle school students at the new DEN program at MMS.
With this past year's difficult learning environment and families struggling with many other challenges, the value of these members is immense. Members will serve (paid time) 35 hours per week from June 6-August 14 to support summer programming.
If you know of someone who would like to serve with AmeriCorps, please encourage them to apply to serve in the program as soon as possible
