Welcome Message from Superintendent Stec
District 44 Families,
Next week, we will welcome our students and staff back to Lombard District 44 for the start of the 2023-2024 school year. We are excited to connect with our new students, families, and staff members, as well as reconnect with those returning to us.
We believe that students cannot be "ready to learn" unless they feel emotionally and physically safe; and attending to this begins with a foundation of trust. We are driven by our purpose: to create a love of learning through strong, genuine connections.
Collective core values guide our work with all District 44 students and families every day:
- Meaningful connection is at the heart of the learning experience.
- Students are so much more than test scores, and their performance should not solely rely upon this one measurement that so often fails to reflect the whole picture of their achievements.
- Empathy is one of the most powerful human emotions we have the ability to feel. Therefore, we must provide our students with the right tools and experiences so they can truly learn and grow.
We value the communication and connections we have with you, our parents and guardians. While your child’s teacher will be your best point of contact, you will also have multiple opportunities to connect with your child’s school principal. Additionally, our district office team is available to connect and problem-solve as well. We promise to listen to your concerns, thoughts, ideas and suggestions.
It is an honor for me to serve all students, parents and the staff of Lombard District 44 and I look forward to connecting with you.
Welcome Back!
Dr. Ted Stec
District 44 Safety Procedures
As we begin a new school year, we would like to take a moment to focus on our safety procedures. In the event that an incident or emergency situation arises in our schools or in the area of our schools during the school day, Lombard School District 44 is prepared. We have a thorough District Emergency Operations Plan and School Crisis Management Plans, putting procedures in place to respond effectively to such situations.
Our district has adopted and utilizes the “I Love U Guys” Foundation's Standard Response Protocol (SRP) and Standard Reunification Method (SRM). Please view the links below to familiarize yourself with these approaches.
Inside Your Schools Student & Parent Handbook
Every year, District 44 reviews and updates its district parent handbook known as "Inside Your Schools."
We encourage families to please take a moment to review the latest edition, which can be found by clicking here. The handbook is available in both English and Spanish.

12-Month Support Staff
There's an assumption that if you work for a school district, you get summers off. However this is not the case! Some of the most important projects of the year happen during the summer months and these projects are all thanks to the amazing 12-month support staff who serve at our schools when kids and 10-month staff head out for summer break.
Within our district office departments and school buildings, we are appreciative of the efforts of our forty-two (42) 12-month employees and recognized them at our August 8 board meeting for "Doing More for 44":
