Welcome Back Letter

August 18, 2023

Dear Members of the Lowell High School Community:

I am writing to extend our best wishes for a rewarding year. Our faculty and staff are excited to welcome all students back to LHS on Tuesday, August 29th, 2023. Below are some important information and resources that will be useful as you start the school year.

Welcome Back to School Video - Our student leaders and members of the video production department have created a welcome back to school video for students and families to view. You can see that video here.

Optional Freshman Academy Information Sessions - On August 22nd and August 24th, the Freshman Academy will be hosting two additional information sessions at the Freshman Academy to meet members of our administrative team and learn about important information related to 9th grade at Lowell High School. If you are interested in joining us, please use this form to sign up for one of the two dates. If you already attended orientation on July 18th or 21st, you do not need to attend these sessions. Sessions will run from 9 a.m.-11 a.m. and will take place at the Freshman Academy building at 40 Paige Street, Lowell, MA.

Schedules - All new 9th grade students will receive schedules by mail on or about August 22nd or 23rd, 2023. Schedules will be viewable on the Aspen portal on Monday, August 21st. If you are an incoming grade 9 student and have used Aspen in your middle school, you should be able to see your new LHS schedule. If you have any questions about your schedule, you can contact your guidance counselor in your house office. House Office Directory List

School Supplies - There is no set class list of school supplies in high school, but we recommend that students have a dedicated notebook and folder for each class in order to stay organized, and an adequate supply of pens and pencils. As a reminder, you’ll have seven 50-minute periods this year.

Transportation - LHS is excited to announce that we will be providing free LRTA bus passes to any student requiring transportation. Bus passes will be made available to students during the first week of school and the latest bus schedules can be accessed by visiting the LRTA website @https://lrta.com/.

Student Athletics - Students interested in participating in fall sports programming should visit our athletics website at https://lowellathletics.org/

Technology - All students who are returning to LHS should use their district issued Chromebook and should bring their chromebook with them. Students new to the district will receive their devices during the first few days of school.

LHS Website - The Lowell High School website is a great resource to stay informed and involved in the school community and should be checked regularly to stay updated on school activities, school closings, and important announcements https://www.lowell.k12.ma.us/domain/8.

Enjoy the remaining days of your summer and we look forward to welcoming you to our community on August 29th, 2023!
