WHAT IS A FOSSIL FUEL?
Fossil fuels are dead plants and animals buried under earths crust. Fossil fuels are sources of energy that heat and light up our homes, drive our cars and develop our life style.
IS A FOSSIL FUEL A RENEWABLE OR NON RENEWABLE ENERGY ?
Our energy source is considered a non-renewable energy because it takes millions of years to form.
HOW DO FOSSIL FUELS ARE TURNED INTO ELECTRICITY ?
The Fossil fuels are burnt into heat water it releases energy. The steam from the water rises in pressure forcing a turbine to spin, then the turbine spins a magnet covered in a generator at high speeds. As the magnet spins electron`s are made.
WHAT PERCENT OF THE NEW YORK STATE USES FOSSIL FUELS ?
67% of the NYS electricity is generated from Fossil Fuel.
WHAT ARE SOME ADVANTAGES OF USING FOSSIL FUELS ?
The fossil fuel can make lots of electricity in one area. Also easy to find also with pipes its easy to transport from station to station.
WHAT ARE DISADVANTAGES OF USING FOSSIL FUELS ?
Pollution natural gas can cause nasty smells and problems and effects the environment : such as oil spills. Also causes global warming, fossil fuels make a big effect to our invirorment today. The seconde picture is what is going to happen if global warming does not stop, when the ice melts the water level rises and our city's will flood.
