Organelle's structure & funtion

Organelle
  • Cell/Plasma membrane - is a Double layer of Phospholipids with proteins. Its Function is to protect the cell from its surroundings. The cell membrane is present in both Animal and Plant Cells.

  • Cell wall- is made of cellulose. The function is that is a protective structure for the Cell. It is ONLY present in Plant Cells.

  • Cytoplasm- is a clear thick Jelly like material which lies inside the cell membrane. The function is that this fluid fills the cell. Its present in both Animal and Plant cells.

  • Nucleus- contains one or more nucleoli mold DNA. The function is that the nucleus is the control center of the cell. Its present in both Animal and Plant cells.

  • Nuclear Membrane- is the double membrane surrounding the nucleus membrane.`.The function is to control the movement of material in/out of the nucleus. It is present in both Animal and Plant cells.

  • Nucleolus- found inside the cells nucleus. The function is that the nucleolus makes ribosomes. It is present in both Plant and Animal cell.

  • Centrioles- is made of a cylinder of Microtubule pairs. The function is that it produces spindle fibers that attach and move the chromosomes during cell division. Its ONLY present in Animal cells.

  • Chromatin- is the worm like cored material and its found in nucleus . The function is that it package DNA into a smaller volume. Its ONLY present in Plant Cells.

  • Ribosomes- is made of RNA and protein. The function is that it synthesizes proteins. Its present in both Plant and Animal cell.

  • Golgi apparatus- is stacks of flattened socs. The function is that it package and export proteins. Its present in both Animal and Plant cells.

  • Endoplasmic Reticulum- This connects to nucleous envelope and cell's membrane. The function is that it carries materials through cells. Its present in both Animal and Plant cells.

  • Mitochondria- is the Inner membrane that fold into cristoe. The function is that it takes the organelles and breaks them down into nutrients and molecules. Its present in both Animal and Plant cells

  • Chloroplast-is a green, oval containing chlorophyll. The function is that it releases oxygen. Its ONLY present in Plant cells.

  • Lysosomes- is small and round with a a single membrane. The function is to hold enzymes. It is ONLY present Animal Cells.

  • Peroxisomes- is bounded by a typical cellular membrane. The function is to hold enzymes that required oxygen. Its present in both Animal and Plant cells.

  • Vacuole- is the largest organelle in the plant cells. The function is that it stores food, water, metabolic and Toxic waste. Its present in both Animal and Plant cells

  • Cytoskeleton- is made of Microtubules, 7 microfilaments. The function is that it moves organelles within the cell. Its present in both Animal and Plant cells
