Semester Ends on January 13th

This Friday is the end of the first semester. First semester grades will be available on Friday, January 20th. As a reminder, first semester grades are made up of both quarters and the midterm. The first quarter is worth forty (40%) percent of the total grade, the second quarter is worth forty (40%) percent of the total grade, and the midterm is worth twenty (20%) of the total grade. If you have any specific questions about your child's grades, feel free to contact their teacher, guidance counselor, or administrator.

Alpha Homeroom on Wednesday, January 18th

At the start of the second semester, we will have an alpha homeroom where students will be given their second semester schedules. This will be at the start of the day on Wednesday, January 18th. It's important that students attend to receive the most updated version of their schedule. Class and room assignments may have changed, especially now that the building renovation is complete.

Drop/Add Period

If your child is planning to drop/add a class for the second semester, this needs to be completed by the end of the day on Friday, January 20th. After January 20th, all classes are locked in for the semester.

Three SHS Seniors Nominated to U.S. Service Academies

Three Strongsville High School seniors were recently nominated by Ohio Congressman Jim Renacci (16th District Representative) to the United States service academies. Nominations of Nathan Karr, James Keating, and Mark Pollack were based on their academic performance, leadership skills, extracurricular involvement, and character. Strongsville High School had three of the fourteen students nominated in Cuyahoga County. St. Edward High School and Strongsville High School each had three nominations, the most representatives from any school in Northeast Ohio.

All three SHS seniors excel both inside and outside of the classroom. Nathan is a member of the varsity track team and Vice President of Model UN. James is a two-sport varsity athlete (football, lacrosse) and is the Captain of the Mock Trial Team. Mark is also a two-sport varsity athlete (cross country, lacrosse). Nathan, James, and Mark all plan to study engineering. The three are expecting to hear from their individual service academies (Nathan - U.S. Naval Academy, James - U.S. Naval Academy & U.S. Air Force Academy, Mark - U.S. Military Academy) by the end of March.

“Not just any student qualifies for nomination to a service academy,” said Renacci. “These students represent the best the United States has to offer, and their nomination is the culmination of years of hard work and dedication. Their decision to serve our country in uniform is admirable, and it is my honor to nominate these outstanding individuals.” Congratulations to Nathan, James, and Mark!
