WKHS Learning Commons Report
for August 2016
By the numbers....
In 13 school days in August
3,976 individual students visited the LC
and another 768 students visited with their class.
An average of 365 students per day led to
924 total circulations, which breaks down to
...71 items/day
...9 items/hour
...every 6 1/2 minutes an item being checked out.
Highlight #1
A work still in progress, the fiction collection is separated into genres, or categories. Titles are placed where WKHS students would be most likely to find and check them out.
Highlight #2
Thank you to all faculty and staff summer reading participants! Congratulations to Tonya Swalgren, winner of the overall prize, a BAMS gift card.
Highlight #3
In short, a makerspace is a place where someone can create. Makerspaces vary their offerings: sewing, upcycling, 3D printing, electronics, bicycle repair, coloring, etc. My goal is to have stations set-up for students to create on their own but also offer direct instruction once a month.
