May 9 , 6th Six Weeks, Week 4

Principal Message

Greetings Rangers!

As we all know, our Rangers will be completing the STAAR assessments this week. The most important aspect as we enter this time, is the environment that is created. Students know what they know and how they go about showing what they know is influenced by the climate and the tone that is created by EACH adult in the building.

Our energy and our focus creates the testing climate that our students experiences, from the minute they enter the door to when they leave. Please ensure you are aware of your role and responsibilities so that our students experience your calmness and confidence. Along with this, is how we convey the expectation that this an important opportunity that each and every one one of our students needs to approach with focus and clarity.

I truly want to say thank you in advance to everyone for approaching this week with a high level of awareness of your role as a member of the ARMS Testing Team and the very vital role in encouraging our students hearts, as well as their minds. These are a few days among many that they have experienced with us and we want to continue support their ultimate success.

I truly appreciate each of you!! A special thank you to ARMS Teachers as you have helped them arrive at this day with a level of confidence and skill that will take them far, way beyond their time at ARMS. Much appreciation!!

Proud Principal of Legendary ARMS,
F. Taylor-Glenn

Ms. Taylor-Glenn writes:

Ms. Mathis has assisted teachers and leadership on many occasions, lent her expertise, and creative mind when we have asked for help. She always assists with a positive attitude and you know that her heart goes into whatever is produced. I truly appreciate the support and candor that she provides!! She contantly works to develop our Ranger Artists and their work can be enjoyed throughout the building.

Most recently Ms. Mathis brought such joy to the Arnet Family and the Cafeteria Team as she created the beautiful display you can see in the Main Office. She was given an apron and this is what she created!! Thank you Ms. Mathis for all you do!!!

Spotlight on 8th grade Science and Social Studies & 6th Grade Math Teachers (Team & Grit)

Ms. Addison writes:

Thank you to the 8 Grade Science, Social Studies, and 6 Grade Math Teachers. For the last 2 weeks they have invited students into their classes so the 8 Grade math team could work with the students for SSI. Without your help and support we would not have been able to work with our students. You showed grit by allowing students to come to your class. It’s not always easy having extra students in your classrooms but you were all willing to help the team to be successful.

Spotlight on J. Miller (Grit)

Marshall Memo

What is the Marshall Memo?

Kim Marshall was a teacher, principal, and central office administrator in Boston for 32 years. He currently advises and coaches new principals through the New Leaders for New Schools program. He is also the author of the Marshall Memo. He subscribes to 64 top-quality publications, and every week he sifts through them to select the most significant articles with the most potential to improve teaching and learning.

In the spirit of our second "G" GROWTH, every week I will share 1 or 2 of the article summaries with ARMS staff. In hopes of sparking interest, sharing another perspective, or strategies as we all collectively work to improve teaching and learning @ ARMS. Take what works for you, leave what doesn't.
