Weekly Newsletter December 11
Bible News
Since the beginning of the school year, we have been talking about how God always keeps His promises. As we began our Christmas unit this week, we saw how God kept His promise to send the Savior. Jesus willingly left Heaven to be born as a baby. After 33 years here on earth He died on the cross, rose from the dead, and went back to Heaven to prepare a place for each one of us. How wonderful that God loves us so much!
Memory Verse: John 3:16 and Luke 2:11
Character Trait: Joyfulness - Happy on the inside and out
Language Arts News
This week we took a peek at a couple of pond animals, frogs and turtles. Our God is so great and one of the many ways He displays His creativity is through the life cycle of a frog. It is amazing how they lose their tails and their legs grow. Turtles also are amazing. God gave them a shell for protection and nostrils near the top of their head so they can get air without having to stick their head very far out of the water.

Thank you for your faithful review of service words and word families at home. The homework that you do at home really cements the learning that takes place here at school. After Christmas we are on the road to first grade, and it is vitally important to keep things fresh in the minds of these children in order for them to be ready.
Over the holidays, please continue reading and reviewing.
Math News
We are working on counting to 80 by ones and tens.
We are talking about money and how the penny is worth 1 cent. We are using our pennies to review the dot patterns. They are also great manipulatives for addition story problems.
Some Extra Information
Thank you so much for your generosity as we collected gifts for our Giving Tree.
Next week Friday folders will be sent home Thursday, December 17. Please return your child’s Friday folder Friday, December 18. It will be one less thing you have to keep up with over the long Christmas break.
I will be sending home all pencil boxes next week. Please help your child clean out his/her school box during our vacation. When classes resume on Monday, January 11th, please have your child bring his/her school box, containing new crayons (the classic 16 count Crayola works best for our purposes), at least 2 new glue sticks, 3 new pencils, eraser and their scissors. Each individual crayon and pencil should be labeled with your child’s number or name. Thank you for your help. This helps to make our days productive!
