LAKE WORTH HIGH SCHOOL
Weekly Memo 10/31/2016
MISSION
We will lead all students to be productive citizens.
VISION
Lake Worth High School provides a customized learning experience that values individual growth and achievement.
GOALS
1. During the 2016-2017 school year, LWHS will increase the amount of time students are reading and/or writing in all core classes every day and in all elective courses at least once per week by reviewing walk-through data, student assessments, and student artifacts in PLCs.
2. By the end of the 2016-2017 school year, 70% of staff will rate school climate and culture questions as favorable (agree and strongly agree) on the annual staff survey.
3. By the end of the 2016-2017 school year, 20% of students will have participated in non-traditional modes of learning that include blended and virtual coursework by evaluating end-of-year course data.
INFORMATION FOR THE WEEK
- Thanks to Mrs. Welborn and our Culinary students for an awesome lunch on Friday! They even cleaned the grill for us!
- Congratulations to Mr. Kading, his staff, and our marching band students. They represented Lake Worth well this Saturday at the Area Marching Competition in Belton. Please let them know how proud we are of them!
- Parent/teacher conference day is November 11th. Please talk within your departments about what you would like from this day. I encourage you to be creative- who says we need to have all of our conferences with parents of students that are failing? Maybe we have student presentations with parents about all the things they have accomplished this year. Just a thought.
- It has come to light that we need an established protocol for students and their absences from class for events. We will be sending something soon that will require you to sign that you acknowledge and understand the procedures for taking students out of class for all or parts of days. We understand things will inevitably come up, but this should help minimize the problems we are having.
- Two alternate schedules this week for advisory and pep rally.
- Please have students continue to track progress on their grades and goals in advisory. Progress reports go out Wednesday and a call out will be made.
- Please continue to post on Twitter and Facebook. Snap a quick picture of something great in class and post!

QUOTE OF THE WEEK
"World class thinking is a language made of beliefs and philosophies that serve your best interests and open the door to unlimited possibilities. Learn the language and begin to speak it to yourself and others every day. In time you will begin to believe everything you are saying. Your new behavior will be the product of your new beliefs."
