We Engage We Educate We Inspire
Hello Stallions!
Last week was awesome! On Wednesday we wore blue to support Autism Awareness Month. Thursday our 1st Graders performed marvelously in their musical. Friday was a Student Council Spirit Day - Throw Back Day with students dressing from the past. Friday was also our monthly Stampede Assembly which is always a great time. It was a fantastic week at the Ranch!
I know I shared this last week, but it is worth repeating. On Monday, we begin our state testing at Sonoma Ranch. Our students in 3rd Grade through 6th Grade will take the AzMERIT writing test, and then the English language arts/math test over two separate days. Our 4th Graders will also take the AIMS science test.
The testing schedule is as follows:
- Monday, April 10 - 3rd/6th Writing
- Tuesday, April 11 - 4th/5th Writing
- Thursday, April 13 - 3rd/6th ELA/Math day 1
- Tuesday, April 18 - 3rd/6th ELA/Math day 2 and 4th AIMS science
- Monday, May 1 - 4th/5th ELA/Math day 1
- Tuesday, May 2 - 4th/5th ELA/Math day 2
Your assistance and support is necessary for our students to do their very best and accurately show what they have learned. Please:
- Make no plans for days off or appointments during school hours on testing days.
- Make sure that your student is in attendance, on time, and ready to begin promptly at the beginning of each school day.
- Consider keeping your student’s cell phone at home during this time, as phones need to be collected during testing.
- Ensure that your student gets plenty of rest and eats a good breakfast each day.
- Encourage your student to do his/her very best on the exams. Student confidence is key in testing!
Your help will go a long way towards a successful testing period for our students. Thank you in advance for assisting our teachers in stressing the importance of the upcoming tests and helping Sonoma Ranch Elementary to provide the best testing conditions possible.
If you are worried about keeping your child engaged in learning over the summer? You can enroll them in this year’s Elementary Summer School at Sonoma Ranch Elementary. Each class will focus on Arizona’s College and Career Readiness Standards in a hands-on manner. On Saturday, April 29th we will be opening our school doors to the public to showcase what our school has to offer the community with an Open House, but also hosting a local organization called Borderland Food Bank. They put on events called Produce on Wheels Without Waste (POWWOW). This is an event where they sell 60lbs of Fresh Produce for $10.00. They do this type of event in various locations around the East Valley with great success.
