News and Reminders
Have Your School ID Cards Ready: The doors will be locked in the morning until 6:55 AM so you will need to swipe in starting tomorrow. Jim, our morning security person, will be at the Winton door once it is unlocked until 7:25 AM and then go to the Monroe parking lot to wave traffic forward. He will be wearing a bright colored vest and have a sign for people to pull forward to a new sign at the far cross-walk. Mike, Betsy or I will be at the Winton door from 7:25 until HR. John McCabe will also be posting a new security position to work in our building during the day, has invited the Brighton police to review our parking lot issues and will also be monitoring our lots periodically.
Learning Walks on Wednesday: We will have teachers visiting our “School-to-Watch” on Wednesday morning. This is the program that Jenny Muhl, Betsy Zwas, Maureen Gamble and I spoke about at our last faculty meeting. I am very excited to be part of this experience that so many Monroe County middle schools are involved with and I see great value in this friendly sharing of ideas.
Booster Shot Assemblies: Mike, Betsy and I plan to host assemblies at the beginning of 3rd quarter to reinforce the character traits of Brighton Believes and our over-all student expectations for good behavior. Please let any of us know if there is a specific item you feel needs a little extra attention.
Nancy Beck Fund Recipients: Congratulations to Amy Moran (Culinary Club), Julie Ward Roth (21st Century Classroom Furniture) and Betsy Balling (TCMStrong) for being awarded funds this year and thanks for taking the time to make the requests!
Faculty Meeting: Our next meeting is February 1 and we will be reviewing the results of the tenth period survey. Also, please let me know if you have a student or group you would like to showcase in February. I would also like to start hearing from interested departments who would be willing to share program highlights, methods and other topics of interest.
