Green Sea Turtles Have Become Endangered!
Green sea turtles live all over the world in the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian oceans. And for thousands of years, they have thrived. Until now. Green sea turtles have been put on the endangered species list because they are slowly becoming extinct.
Green Sea Turtle Diet
Green sea turtles eat mostly ocean plants but they also have been known to eat jellyfish.
Height, Weight and Age
Green sea turtles can grow up to 5 feet long and can weigh up to 700 lbs. This turtle's average life span is 80 years.
Did You Know?
Like other sea turtles, the green turtle cannot pull its head into its shell.
Why They Are Becoming Extinct
Green turtles are listed as an endangered species all over the world. Despite this, they are still killed for their meat and eggs. Their population is also being reduced by boat propeller accidents, fishnet-caused drownings, and the destruction of their nesting grounds by humans not being careful.
