Olympic Middle School
Weekly Message for 12/18-12/19
Good afternoon Olympic families and staff
Two days this week and then we are off for 2 weeks for the long holiday break. Reminder that Tuesday, school dismisses at 11:35. Hard to believe that before we know it, 2024 will be here. Our students did a wonderful job last Thursday during our fire drill. We evacuated the building in less than 3 minutes and students were well behaved in their lines.
Our school social last Friday was a total blast. The dancing, Karaoke, volleyball, basketball, and movie were all hits with something for everyone to do! I can share that we have some students with moves and some students who can sing! Lots of smiles and sweaty kids on their way out. Thanks to our PTSO and staff who volunteered to make this event so spectacular for our students.
Intramurals this week include:
Boys' basketball has practice Monday.
Girls' soccer is completed for the season.
Your student brought their report card home Friday. If they forgot to give it you, please be sure to ask them for it. You may also find the report card on family access (Skyward). Included in the report card was a letter from me sharing information about standards-based grading and how this may look different than what you have experienced before on the report card. Feel free to reach out to your student's homeroom teacher if you have specific questions.
Please watch over break for an email from OMS that will highlight our school expectations, talking points for you and your student, update to our cell phone policy and the 10/10 rule I shared in last week's message. Our staff have worked to align expectations in classrooms and common areas, and we have stepped up our recognition and incentive programs for students who are following expectations and being excellent eagles! We will be reteaching expectations in all areas of the building when we return with time to practice and celebrate!
Let’s have a wonderful week at Olympic!
