Andre’ Families,
Thank you so much for sharing your children with us. I am so proud of the giving hearts of our Leopards. As a campus, we have been learning about the importance of serving others and giving back to the community. We learned so many lessons from Harvey last year, and saw Houston come together in such an amazing way, that we want our Leopards to know that every act of kindness spreads, and that even from a single school, we can make a powerful difference in the lives of others. Our Student Council is sponsoring a service project to support the Mission of Yahweh, a women and children’s shelter in northwest Houston. Our Leopards have been given a list of donation items that are desperately needed to support the shelter in this winter season. All items should be dropped off in the wrapped boxes underneath our tree in the library. Thank you for your generosity and support of our efforts.
Additionally, some of our music students will be visiting Heartis nursing home to share holiday music with residents and add some December cheer. Again, our students are giving of themselves and modeling leadership for others that will propel them towards the District’s mission of all students prepared for 21st century global leadership.
Join me in congratulating our Leopard family for demonstrating selflessness, compassion, kindness, and service.
“Life’s most urgent question is: What are you doing for others?” –Martin Luther King, Jr.
Have a joyous holiday break with friends and family! We can’t wait to return for a fabulous New Year in January! I look forward to the opportunities the new year holds for our students.

The parties will have games, crafts and snacks for students to enjoy with grade level friends. All parents are encouraged to volunteer for this fun event. For information about volunteering, please e-mail our Andre’ PTO at andreleopardpto@gmail.com
Please remember that all visitors must sign in and receive a printed name tag through our V-soft system in the front office. To receive a pre-printed badge, your official photo ID, driver’s license, or passport would have to be previously scanned and on file in our system. You can avoid long lines on party day by completing and returning the attached Winter Party Guest/Parent RSVP form by Friday, December 14th. Your name tag will be pre-printed and sent home with students on Tuesday, December 18th for your convenience.
If you wish to take your child home after the Winter Party, you will be able to sign your child out after the party with your child’s teacher. If you are requesting that someone other than the parent or guardian pick up your child after the party, please send a note on the morning of December 21st. You will need to include the name of the individual who will be signing out your child in the note. If you are wanting to check out siblings from other grade levels, you will need to do so at the front desk. Only students at the party can be checked out on the hard top by the teacher.
*Siblings (this includes babies, toddlers, and school-age children, including elementary, middle and high school students) may not attend due to safety concerns and space constraints.
On party day, please remember to park in designated parking areas. Emergency fire lanes must remain open.

Stay Connected
We want to stay connected with you! Please visit our website at www.cfisd.net, select schools and facilities, elementary schools, and then Andre’. This will take you to our website. We will also regularly post photos and news on the Official Andre’ Facebook page. To locate our page, search @CFISDAndre. Make sure you follow us on Twitter, @CFISDAndre, as well.
Lost and Found
Have you been searching the house for your child’s missing jacket or lunch kit?
We have quite a collection of found items that we have on display in the cafeteria. Students will have an opportunity each day during lunch to look through the items to reclaim things that belong to them. It is getting cooler outside, and jackets will be needed.
Please remind your child to look for missing items before our Winter Break. Thank you for your support.
Counselors' Corner
We first want to thank our parents and teachers for assisting with our collection of Gifted & Talented permission forms for the last two months. Our deadline for applications for mid-year testing ended on Friday, November 30. Testing for Kindergarten students will begin in mid-January, while grades 1-5 will test shortly after. A notification of specific date will be sent home prior to testing.
We will be celebrating November’s homeroom attendance winners on Friday, December 7 and Monday, December 10. The winning homerooms included: Ms. Taylor (AM class), Ms. Bryant, Ms. Lester, Ms. Sanders, Ms. Richard, Ms. Delgado, and Ms. Butler. Our attendance for November was 97.02% , which is just slightly above our goal of 97%. Please continue to assist us in reaching our goal.
Our core value for the month is Compassion – caring enough to do something about somebody else’s need. We will be delivering age-appropriate lessons to each classroom throughout the month. Please take the opportunity to add to our efforts with your own conversation with your children about what it means to be compassionate.
Words From the Library
Visit the CFISD Mobile Library on Saturday, December 8 at the Yaupon Ranch Pool (Greenhouse and Dusty Yaupon) 9:30-11:30 to check out extra library books, enjoy snacks, and play games.
Notes from the front desk
Lunch Visitors
Please limit your lunch visits with your child to one time per week. We have close to 1000 students and want to make sure we have space for all parents who would like to eat lunch with their children. A note is required from a guardian for anyone other than a guardian to have lunch with your child.
Absences
If your child is absent, please send a note on the first day of your child’s return to school stating the reason for the absence. Thank you.
Transportation Changes
If a child’s end-of-day transportation changes, the parent/guardian must send a note with the date, necessary changes and parent/guardian signature. If a note is not received, the usual method of transportation will be followed.
For safety purposes, no changes will be made after 3:30 P.M. and PHONE CALLS or E-MAILS CANNOT BE ACCEPTED.
Student Council
Student Council Candy Gram Sale
4th and 5th grade Student Council members will sell Candy Grams during lunch beginning December 10th. All Candy Grams are $1.00 and will be delivered on Friday, December 21st. The proceeds from the sale will help fund two Cy Springs HS Student Scholarships. Scholarships will be awarded in the spring to former Andre’ students graduating from Cy Springs HS in 2019.
Box Tops for Education
Each Student’s Goal= 10 Box Tops in December!
Did you know that Andre’ receives 10₵ for every General Mills Box Tops for Education we collect? As you are preparing for the holidays, and throughout the year, please remember to cut out Box Tops from participating products and send them to your child’s homeroom teacher.
You can send box top clips and certificates in a bag, envelope or on the attached collection sheet.
If each student turns in 10 box tops, our school will earn over $1,100! Wow!
