A Message from Dr. Frischkorn
Good Afternoon Mayfield!
Today Mayfield hosted our first Black History Month Assembly and it was absolutely phenomenal. I want to thank Mrs. Porter and Mrs. Dove for organizing this amazing event for our students and our community. That you to our special guests Dr. Newman, School Board Chair Williams, Manassas City Council Member Mrs. Davis-Younger and local hip-hop artist Brien Johnson.
We also had some very talented performances by our own students and staff. Mrs. Porter shared some fascinating facts regarding black history, Mrs. Farmer read a powerful poem by Dr. Maya Angelou, Mrs. Hunley sang an inspiring song, Mr. Badjie led the student is a great song and Ms Porter choreographed a performance by our very own Mayfield Student Dance Team.
Today was definitely a proud Mayfield Moment. I'm so fortunate to be the principal of this incredible community of leaders and scholars.
With gratitude,
Dr. Donald Frischkorn

More about our Special Guest and Performer Brien Johnson
Brien Johnson is a hip-hop artist who triumphs in communicating with our generation, using lyrical vulnerability and relevancy complimented by raw energy. Rooted in hip-hop, Brien has begun to create a lane in which listeners all over the country are calling his music "a breathe of fresh air." There are hints of obvious influences from Lil Wayne, Chance the Rapper, all the way to Columbia Records recording artist Lecrae. Brien is becoming a voice of hope, reason, and an inspiration to this generation looking for those 3 things. Brien is poised to make an impact on music and this generation.

To keep it simple, 5th grade students will have SOL exams on 3 consecutive Tuesdays. 6th Grade students will have SOL exams on 2 consecutive Thursdays.
