Local Scholarships
African American Network-Carolinas Scholarship Fund
The AANC-Scholarship fund will provide scholarships up to $2000 for graduating seniors in North Carolina and South Carolina who are pursuing a major in engineering, math, science, computer science, accounting, finance or business administration.
Academics and financial need will be considered for applicants who:
- are graduating from an NC or SC high school
- will attend a 4-year college/university in NC or SC
- intend to pursue one of the above listed majors
Application deadline: March 1, 2018
Alpha Delta Kappa Scholarships
The Gamma Theta Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa will select one local recipient for each scholarship to be sent for district judging. Local winners will receive $250 scholarships, state winners will receive $2000 scholarships.
Eunice Riggins Memorial Scholarship
Open to any female student in NC. Non-renewable (one-time) $2000 scholarship for student expecting to enroll in a 4-year college or university in NC.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Application submitted to college of choice
- Academic rank in top 10% of class
- Minimum SAT score of 1220 or ACT composite of 25
- Good character
- Participation in extra curricular activities (school and community)
- Financial need (not primary consideration)

Mary Rose Mills-Linda Rankin Memorial Scholarship
Open to any graduating senior expecting to enroll in a 4-year college or university in NC. One-time (non-renewable) $2000 award.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Application submitted to college of choice
- Academic rank in top 10% of class
- Minimum SAT score of 1290 or ACT composite of 27
- Good character
- Participation in extra curricular activities (school and community)
- Financial need (not primary consideration)

Clare Johnson Marley-Mary Earle Berger Fine Arts Scholarship
Open to any graduating senior expecting to enroll in a 4-year college or university in NC, and who is declaring his/her major in an are of the fine arts. One-time (non-renewable) $2000 award.Eligibility Requirements:
- Application submitted to college of choice
- Academic rank in top 20% of class
- Minimum SAT score of 1220 or ACT composite of 25
- Good character
- Participation in extra curricular activities (school and community)
- Financial need (not primary consideration)

Cleveland Elam Memorial Scholarship
Applicants for the $500 Cleveland Elam Scholarship must meet the following criteria:
- Minority male planning to enter college/university in the fall of 2018
- Minimum 2.5 GPA
- US Citizen
Applicants must submit a typed, 1 page essay on the following topic:
Cleveland Elam's famous quote was "It is nice to be important but it is also important to be nice." What does this quote mean to you?
Completed application packets will include the essay, scholarship application, transcript, a picture of the applicant, and 2 letters of recommendation, one of which is a high school faculty or staff member.

Brad Patrick Memorial Scholarship
The Brad Patrick Memorial Scholarship was established in 1989 to honor Brad Michael Patrick. He was an active member of Christiana Lutheran Church and his local community up until his life was taken by a drunk driver on December 29, 1989. This scholarship is endowed by his friends and family to help others realize their academic goals. The scholarship is a one-time award of $1,000.
Considerations in awarding this scholarship include community involvement, school involvement, and financial need.
