ALL STUDENTS RETURN ON MONDAY
Message from your Severance High Administration Team:
With the start of the fourth quarter just around the corner, we want you to know that we will continue to keep our students, staff and community safe. Please see these health and safety precautions that we will be following.
Block schedule:
Fourth quarter classes will be all NAVY classes (2,4,6,8). We still will follow the same schedule everyday. Bell Schedule can be found here.
Student drop off/ pick up:
We will begin screening students and letting them in the building at 8:10 am. Class starts at 8:40. All students not involved in afterschool activities should leave the building by 4:00 pm.
Students will enter the doors on the West side of the building. We will have a new door on the west side that will be accessible. This is the door closest to the gym and should be used by all students that have Physical Education classes, Agriculture classes and music classic for NAVY 2
Once students enter the building, they should “keep to the right” when walking at all times. There are signs on the floor to indicate the flow of traffic.
Masks:
Face coverings will be required by staff and students in school at all times. Wearing a mask will be part of our dress code and MUST be worn at all times. Masks must have multiple layers of tightly woven, breathable fabric. Students will be provided safe, supervised mask breaks during the school day (outside).
Temperature screenings:
Every person entering our building will be temperature screened. If a student has a temperature 100.4 or higher, they will wait 10 minutes and then get retested. If fever persists, students will be sent to a quarantine area and need to be picked up immediately. Further information on entry points for students will be sent next week.
Cleaning protocols:
All desks and chairs will be disinfected between each class period, with deep cleaning performed every evening.
Lunches:
In order to social distance, the students will attend one of two lunch periods per day, depending on their class schedule. Lunch period guidance can be found at the bottom of this page.
Chromebooks:
Students will still be expected to bring their charged chromebook to school every day. It is also advised that they bring their chargers with them to campus. Charging and cleaning the devices will be the responsibility of each student.
Reminder: Upcoming Deadlines for Registration:

Yearbook Distribution Information
Due to the continually changing calendar and challenges of this school year, we have elected to delay the distribution of our yearbook until August. We know how much you look forward to receiving this special keepsake at the end of the school year; however, we also recognize the cost and expectation that come along with it. To give each student, organization, and activity their due coverage, the yearbook staff will continue to work hard on page creation through the end of the school year and into the summer a little bit. This will give the yearbook staff the opportunity to cover spring/summer events and sports. A definitive distribution date and plan will be communicated as soon as it is available.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we strive to establish and uphold this amazing tradition. The yearbook staff has been working hard amidst the challenges of this year to continue to build a yearbook that is remembered for years to come. This historic yearbook will be one you don’t want to miss!
Be well,
Anne Sutton, Advisor

SIND SIE KRANK? KEIN PROBLEM IN DEUTSCHLAND! (Are you sick? No problem in Germany!)
I was doing some research about German culture for my German II class when I came upon an interesting article about culture shock and the German medical system. I read the article and remembered my first encounter with the medical systems in both Austria and Germany. Sitting in unfamiliar surroundings far from home is difficult enough but feeling sick or injured and very vulnerable in those situations is worse. The German medical system is one of the best in the world but has many things that Americans might find foreign. Are you prepared to walk down the hall with little clothing on while in the hospital? How would you feel if the doctor prescribed a “cure” at a spa or a massage as treatment? What if your diagnosis was all in Latin and you had no idea what the doctor was saying? Finally, wouldn’t you love to get the bill at the end of your experience and not have to take out a second mortgage on your home to pay it? Those are some of the things you might encounter if you find yourself in a German hospital or clinic. Don’t worry, however, the doctor said you will be fine! Well….he said it in Latin and German, so you’ll just have to interpret his smile as good news! Check out the article below. Bis nächste Woche!
