Join us for a free family wellness workshop all about healthy snacks next Monday, May 24th in the evening. A team of Registered Dietitians will be discussing healthy snacks while walking families through how to prepare healthy snacks that taste good.

- COVID-19 Vaccine Appointment Call Center: For those without access to a computer or the internet, a Los Angeles County Department of Public Health call center is open daily from 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. to help schedule appointments at 833-540-0473. Individuals are encouraged to use the website http://www.publichealth.lacounty.gov/media/Coronavirus/vaccine/index.htm whenever possible to sign up for an appointment to avoid long wait times on the phone.

PUSD Health Programs will host a Pfizer Vaccination Clinic at Blair High School on May 25 for 12-15 year old students. For details please see attached flyer. The FDA approved the use of the Pfizer vaccine in children 12 to 15 years old, and the CDC endorsed the safety and effectiveness of this vaccine in this age group. On Tuesday, May 18 at 6:00 p.m., Los Angeles County Public Health held a Vaccine Town Hall for Parents with the latest updates on the COVID-19 vaccine, including information for children. National Alliance on Mental Health Illness offers a basic 6-session education program for parents, caregivers and other family members who provide care for youth (ages 22 and younger) who are experiencing mental health symptoms? Click HERE to find more information along with a link to register for the session.
The Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health (LACDMH) has compiled a collection of anti-racism, racial equity and mental health resources. Please feel free to explore and share them with your loved ones and communities. Building Successful Communication Between Parent or Guardian and Teacher - The Institute on Community Integration (ICI) at the University of Minnesota. Two-way communication between families and teachers helps to build trust. This trust is important in supporting learning for culturally and linguistically diverse students, including English Learners. This resource helps guide families into developing these relationships. ICI’s resources are available in various languages, including English, Arabic, Vietnamese, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, and Spanish. Need internet access? The Federal Communications Commission has launched a temporary program to help families and households struggling to afford Internet service during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Emergency Broadband Benefit provides a discount of up to $50 per month toward broadband service for eligible households. Eligible households can enroll through a participating broadband provider or directly with the Universal Service Administrative Company (USAC) using an online or mail in application. You can learn more about the benefit, including eligibility and enrollment information, by visiting www.fcc.gov/broadbandbenefit, or by calling 833-511-0311.
