Did you take on the challenge? It is so difficult to put away the technology and remain present in TODAY. I challenge each of you to try to carve out a few hours to put away all of your technology and just be still, or truly focus on those around you.

Personal Days - Administrative Regulations
Teachers,
I have received numerous requests for personal days, and more specific personal days that are in conjunction with holiday weekends. I have copied the districts administrative regulations below and want you to know that when approving a teacher's time I have to consider the impact on students. In my opinion, your presence at school is critical for the success of your students and do not feel that a sub can walk in and deliver high quality instruction in the same way that you would. I understand that there are times when you have to exercise the use of personal days, but would ask that you also consider the impact on your students as you are making these requests. Thank you for all you do!
Campus Based Personnel: Beginning with the 2015-2016 school year, all campus-based personnel will request discretionary leave from the principal or designated assistant principal 3 days (72 hours) in advance of the requested absence. The request shall be submitted in writing. The campus administrator will consider the impact of the employee’s request on the educational operations of the campus and then respond to the employee within 24 hours of receiving the request. If the employee does not receive a response from the principal, the request is considered granted.
Discretionary leave requested for the following occasions shall be submitted in writing to the principal or designee at least one week in advance of the day(s) requested:
- the day before or after a school holiday
- days scheduled for TAKS/STAAR tests
- days scheduled for end-of-semester or end-of-year exams
- days scheduled for professional or staff development
Please put these days on your calendar!!!
