Recruit More Volunteers for the New Year

The new 4-H Club year is upon us. Now is an excellent time to recruit more volunteers for your County and/or Local 4-H Program. Adults are excited and motivated to help. Research shows that many volunteers do not get involved because.......they are not asked!

Planning for the New Year

A new 4-H Club year brings about new challenges. Now is the time to plan! Plan the entire year out, and get others involved. After electing officers, get them involved in the planning process. Put together a monthly calendar that has items such as meeting dates, service projects, recreation and fun, portfolio workshops, 4-H project check-ups, holiday festivities, outdoor events, indoor events (for cold or inclement weather), a public speaking workshop, fund raisers, etc. A well-planned club program is one that is structured (but flexible), rigorous (but not overwhelming), and that is tailored to the taste and preferences of the club membership. Make sure to keep it fun. Also, it is a good idea to have an end-of-the-year fun activity that youth can look forward to, as a reward for hard work.

National 4-H Volunteer Conference

The National 4-H Volunteer Conference will be held on October 6-9, 2022 at Rock Eagle 4-H Center in Georgia. The Conference is open to anyone working with 4-H youth across the U.S. and is hosted by volunteers from the southern region. The theme this year is "4-H: A Prism of Possibilities." Check out the website above for details.
