Crossing Guard
Our school liaison officer, Deputy Nick Krafft is working to ensure we have a deputy at the walk each day. We will NEVER release our walkers until we know someone (a deputy, Mrs. Froning or a staff member is at the street). We urge those of you who sign out your child to walk them home to WAIT until someone can assist with your crossing.
If you or someone you know is interested apply for our Crossing Guard position, please contact Mrs. Froning.
Moving into the 3rd Trimester
We are excited to welcome 21 Owls to in-person learning on Monday, March 15th. We will have students returning to in-person instruction at every grade level, we will not see an impact in the number of classrooms in any grade. There will be no changes in placement for any of our students currently attending in-person learning.
Here is some important information regarding class assignment and report cards. *This information is most applicable for our Our and My Path families:
- New teacher/class assignments will be posted to Skyward Family Access the evening of March 12.
- Skyward Family Access will close to families/parents at 7 a.m. on March 11 so we can update the system with the new grades, schedules and teacher/class assignments.
- Grades for the second trimester will post after March 24 for parents by the teacher your child had the second trimester (although your child’s THIRD trimester teacher’s name will appear).
- Please contact your child’s SECOND trimester teacher, if you have any questions about the report card.
Families joining In-Person Learning
I will be hosting a meeting Monday, March 8th at 7:00 pm via Zoom to share our In-Person learning specifics and to answer questions you might have about all aspects of school.
Please mark your calendar and note the Zoom link below. Please feel free to send along any specific questions you have right at this tie so I can be sure to answer those (and more) on Monday night!
Thank you,
Mrs. Froning
2021-2022 School Year
Planning for the 2021-22 school year is happening on many levels. It is our full intention to offer five days of in-person instruction for all students in the fall. Administrators are meeting and working on determining a virtual option that would continue into next year for those who choose it. All of this, of course, is predicated on a number of factors of which we have no control: the virus, the success/impact of vaccines on our schools/community, MDHHS orders, recommendations from the Governor’s Advisory Council, CDC recommendations and guidance, and our 2021-2022 budget from the State.
CALENDAR FOR THE 2021-22 SCHOOL YEAR:
We are working on the 2021-22 school year calendar, although is a negotiated item and we do not anticipate having a final calendar until late in the spring.
Preschool Information for the 2021-22 School Year
If you would like information about preschool registration for 2021-22, please complete this survey. We plan to save a spot for your child. Registration will happen later in the spring. Here is the brochure for the next school year, with tentative sites, times and costs. All are subject to Board approval and enrollment. Preschool Open House March 18, 6:30 p.m. A Zoom link will be posted on the WLCSD Preschool Webpage soon!

Lasagna Love!
Lasagna Love is a national non-profit organization helping families now in the Detroit Metro that I recently partnered with. A whole bunch of awesome people are making and delivering home-cooked lasagnas for families who are struggling as a result of the pandemic. Lost childcare, lost income, lost sanity… whatever the situation may be. One meal isn’t going to change the world, but it may change a day.
Request a meal. If your family needs a meal, or you know a family that does please log on to www.lasagnalove.org/ to submit your name and be matched with a lasagna chef. Or, you can choose to nominate another family. Your cook will then message you with a delivery time and there you have it! A home cooked meal, delivered to your door. It’s a free meal, made with love, no strings attached.
Spread the word! Please share with your friends, family and acquaintances so we can reach as many families as possible.
