Part 1 of CESA 10's Secondary Math Intervention Series
Middle and high school students frequently struggle with common foundational concepts in mathematics. These foundations include multi-digit number concepts, computation, and fractions. Students often lack conceptual understanding of these ideas leading to erosion of skills needed for advanced mathematics. This workshop is a 2-part engagement that begins with a focus on multi-digit concepts, properties of operations, and computation. Part 2 of the day centers on fraction fluency. Formative assessment will be highlighted throughout the sessions. Resources and activities will be shared.
Outcomes will include:
- Participants will explore multi-digit concepts, properties of operations, and computation; common foundational concepts in mathematics.
- Participants will explore fraction fluency.
- Participants will explore formative assessment related to secondary intervention.
The second part of this series is a virtual book study titled Making Sense of Algebra.
The third part of this series is a workshop titled Transition to Algebra which focuses on a specific intervention resource for the secondary mathematics classroom.
Participation is not required for all parts of the series; registration for each part is separate.
