Building a Brighter Future, Edition 14- Oct. 29, 2021

There is still so much to smile about...

Wow. When we decided that we would allow costumes this year, I knew it would be fun, but I didn't realize how necessary it was.

The happiness and laughter today were priceless. It was worth all the craziness to see the smiles on every mermaid, princess, police officer, and astronaut. In case you were wondering, the big people smiled, too...a lot.

Academics may not have been our priority today, but I hope that we made a memory for all of our students. A memory that school is a place for fun and joy (and learning, too.) Click on the link below for just a few of the amazing moments that we captured today!

Thank You, PTO!

We want to say a big thank you to our PTO and parent volunteers for providing decorations, goody bag supplies, and decorating skills to help make today awesome for all of our students. The front hallway was decorated to the nines and every student received a goody bag with treats when they walked through our Pumpkin Parade.

Mrs. Crowther's Apple Tower Challenge

Mrs. Crowther's kindergarten class was challenged to work with a partner to plan and execute the tallest apple tower they could. We have some impressive future architects and engineers!

Do You Need to Pick Your Child Up Early?

If you are needing your child early, we can bring them right out to the lobby for you- curbside service! :) We just ask you to arrive no later than 1:45 each day so that you don't get stuck in the bus line. Due to our end of day routines and all it takes to make sure each student gets home safely, we will not be able to sign students out after 1:45.

Still Needing to Order Pictures?

Online orders are still being accepted at the following link:

Attendance Notifications

Moving forward, Mrs. Harris, our attendance secretary, will be sending home notifications each day that your child is absent. This is just to let you know that we are showing that your child was marked absent for the day and to help remind you to bring us any applicable documentation (i.e. doctor notes, etc.)

Student Birthday Celebrations

Birthdays are special and teachers love to celebrate your kids in the classroom! Please remember to communicate with your child's teacher at least 24 hours prior to bringing cupcakes/donuts to make sure there aren't any allergies in the classroom. Unfortunately, the cupcakes/donuts cannot be homemade. We hope to enjoy your homemade goodies in the near future. In the meantime, let's do everything we can to keep our students safe. Thanks for your understanding!

Water Bottles

Friendly reminder to please send a water bottle with your child each day. Our water fountains are not being used at the moment.

Transportation Changes? Email by 12:00 each day!

Remote Conferencing Opportunity for Isolated or Quarantined Students

Lago Vista ISD students may be eligible to participate in remote conferencing for attendance purposes in the event they are unable to attend face-to-face instruction on campus. Students are eligible for remote conferencing if both of the following requirements are met:

  • The student is unable to attend school because of a temporary medical condition; AND

  • The total amount of remote conferencing does not exceed more than 20 instructional days over the entirety of the school year.

A student who is absent due to other reasons not listed above will not qualify to participate in remote conferencing and will be marked absent each day he/she is not physically present in school.

In addition to the two requirements above, one of the following requirements must also be met:

  • The student’s temporary medical condition is documented by a physician licensed to practice in the United States; OR

  • The student has a positive test result for a communicable condition (such as COVID-19); OR

  • The student has been identified as having been in close contact with COVID-19.

Students in remote conferencing instruction will continue to work on class assignments via Seesaw, Google Classroom, or Canvas, and receive synchronous (live) assistance from a designated Remote Conferencing teacher. To the extent possible, a dedicated certified teacher will be designated to provide remote conferencing throughout the duration of students’ time in this setting, but it will not be the students’ teacher of record. In addition to working on assignments, students will be required to attend daily attendance meetings that will count for the day’s attendance and keep your child within the 90% attendance rule while out temporarily.

You will be notified by ParentLink with specific remote conferencing instructions and Google Meet links if your child qualifies for this temporary opportunity. If your child receives a close contact notification from the school, there will be a link to a form to complete if you wish for your child to participate in remote conferencing.

Is Your Child Going to be Absent?

If your child is going to be absent, please email your student's name, teacher's name, and the reason they are absent. She will take care of the rest!

PTO News

The LVES Parent Teacher Organization creates opportunities for parents, teachers, and students to learn, socialize, communicate, and grow!

Our non-profit organization is dependent on monetary donations to supply our school with everything the children need to have an amazing and above average elementary school experience. Funds raised go directly to the requests of our teachers and staff to enhance classroom materials and our student’s learning environment. We also host some exciting extracurricular events to bring students and their families together outside of school hours! By becoming a member of the PTO you are showing your support and school spirit for Lago Vista Elementary.

Thank you again to all of our wonderful PTO Members and Sponsors! Our 2021-2022 Vinyl Banners are hung on the fence along Dawn Drive!
