September 28-October 2
Week 6
This week we are continuing with Unit 3 as we work on Lessons 3 & 4. Just a reminder that as we continue to go through the semester, all units are now 2 weeks, with specific assignments being due each week. Students only have to attend one RLC every two weeks, but are encouraged to attend more than one per unit if they want to. Students should already have all assignments completed and submitted through Unit 3, lesson 2. I have called all parents and either spoken with you or left a message about your student's progress. I have sent emails with missing assignments for students who are behind (to both parents and students). Please speak with your student and make sure he or she has completed all assignments through Unit 3, lesson 2 and is working on Unit 3, lessons 3 & 4 this week. In addition, students have the choice to do a Final Project for Unit 3 OR Unit 4, but not both. They have to do all the assignments for both units, but can choose which unit to do the Final Project. Below is a list of what is due by this Friday, October 2. Students have 9 major assignments (10 if they choose to go ahead and do the Final Project for Unit 3) to complete this week.
Required Live Classes for Unit 3
Students have 2 more opportunities to attend an RLC for Unit 3 this week. If your student is/was unable to attend an RLC for Unit 3, tell them to contact me for information on making up the RLC.
Culture Cafe for Extra Credit
Students have the opportunity to attend sessions in the Culture Cafe for extra credit. This week students have 3 Culture Cafe sessions they can attend. The extra credit for attending a Culture Cafe goes towards the student's participation grade. In addition, students can attend any of the sessions as it does not have to be about Spanish. Below is information about the 3 sessions this week. Students can click on the Culture Cafe Block/Button on the main Moodle page to enter the session. After attending a Culture Cafe session, students will complete a reflection about the class and submit it for extra credit.
Peer Tutor Center-How about a Virtual Buddy?
Along with more than 60 Peer Tutors who are ready to help students with content questions, the Peer Tutoring Center also has dozens of Virtual Buddies waiting to help students overcome the obstacles that sometimes get in the way of the course content. Issues like time management, lack of organizational or study skills, fear of the online learning environment, or motivational factors, can stop students dead in their tracks. (If your student needs content specific help, they will need a Peer Tutor, not a Virtual Buddy.)
The End of the 1st Quarter
Just for your information.... The 1st quarter will end on Friday evening, October 23, at 11:55pm when all assignments must be completed. Please encourage students to be on task and complete weekly assignments so that they will be able to meet this deadline. in addition, students are encouraged to work ahead in the class.
