Unity Preschool News
Home School Edition - Volume 3
We are soooooo disappointed that Unity Preschool will be closed until the end of April. Our Staff misses you and we would still like to stay connected with you. Beginning this week, all of our classes are using the SeeSaw app to post videos, pictures, stories and other content. Four's and Two's classes should have have received an e-mail from your child's teacher last week with instructions for how to access this app. If you have any questions about the SeeSaw app, please contact your teacher.
This week, we are excited to feature our Staff with "big kids", Ms. Tami and Ms. Kellie, to share how they are coping at home with their teens!
Ms. Tami - HELPING OUR NEIGHBORS
Ms. Tami and her sons, Benjamin and Andrew, have been spending time volunteering with a new nonprofit started by her friend/neighbor called Do Good Now: https://www.facebook.com/dogoodnowsc/ (Ms. Tami says they have many child-friendly options).
The past two weeks they made small posters to hang on the outside of the residents’ windows at Morningside in Rock Hill and The Blake in Baxter. This week they will visit Wellmore in Tega Cay. The residents in these communities are quarantined and are not allowed any visitors - even immediate family at this time. The posters her boys made said things like: “Keep on the sunny side”, “Not every day is good but there’s something good in every day”, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart,” and “Be Hoppy!” The children also wrote inspirational messages in chalk on the walkways at the communities. Ms. Tami reported that their efforts with well received with lots of smiles, waves and brightened spirits. Most importantly, Ms. Tami admitted that “doing good” amidst all that is happening really brightened the day of her and her boys!
Ms. Tami's family also did some light grocery shopping for some elderly members of their church who did not want to go out. She did not have any luck finding that elusive toilet paper item, but they shared some of theirs:)! Ms. Tami also dropped off some sweets to our storyteller, Ms. Jane and her husband, who live a few houses down from Ms.Tami!
Ms. Kellie - LOTS OF VITAMIN C
Ms. Kellie has been busy cleaning, cooking, closet organizing and playing cards with her family. Ms. Kellie's children, Ainsley and Ryan, attend Nation Ford high school and are adapting to the new e-learning environment and enjoying the shorter school days and later nights. Ms. Kellie has been enjoying more time in the kitchen with her daughter, Ainsley. Below they are making pork schnitzel (found at Harris Teeter) with sour cream sauce, mashed potatoes and green beans! She is also trying to tackle some closet organizing that was always seemed to be last on her to-do list. Ms. Kellie's family has also re-discovered game night and have enjoyed learning some new card games together.
Ms. Dannie - GUEST READER

Ms. Dannie lives in the same neighborhood as Ms. Carolyn so I have included a picture of the Easter egg that she decorated and hung on her door. Ms. Dannie has been staying busy by keeping in touch with her many friends from church, preparing Sunday School lessons for her 6th/7th grade class and walking with her friend. They have been walking to together EVERY morning for 24 years!
Ms. Heather - ALPHABET BINGO

Her family is surviving this unusual situation with lots of outside time like bike rides, camping out, yard work and home projects.
Coach Derrick - PLAYBALL ACTIVITIES
My apologies, I forgot to forward the Playball Activites that Coach Derrick prepared for us. I will do that tomorrow. In the meantime, Ms. Heather, recommend an Instagram Account by Stacy Erickson that has fun "Virtual Recess" activities that you can do as a family:

2. Coach Derrick has included several fun and interesting resources for children on his Fit Lit Kids facebook page:

3. One of the most fun science activities that we do every spring with our Three's classes is to watch butterflies grow. It is easy to do and very fun to observe how quickly the caterpillars grow and to practice patience waiting for the butterflies to emerge. The website to purchase a kit is below:

An e-mail was sent earlier today regarding March and April tuition payments. Please contact me if you have any questions and please know how much we appreciate your financial support during this challenging time.
