Angelina Jolie: Local Leader
Talks About Donations to Third-World Countries Confirmed
Angelina Donates to Third-World Countries in Need.
She joined forces with the UN's refugee agency in 2001, first as a goodwill ambassador and now as special envoy. She's undertaken 50 field missions to countries including Iraq, Syria, and Pakistan. Her decision to explain her willingness to foster hard conversations by taking a public stand was a hard-hitting story for The New York Times editorial. "Angelina Jolie represents a new type of leadership in the 21st century," says U.K. Foreign Secretary William Hague, who has worked with Jolie in the past.

Events Leading Up To Her Generosity
What Made Her Want To Donate
Jolie's interest in humanitarian affairs was piqued in 2000 when she went to Cambodia to film the adventure movie, "Tomb Raider." She soon began travelling with UNHCR to the field and, ever since, her interest and determination to help the displaced, publicize their plight and lobby for international assistance has never flagged. Jolie has carried out more than 40 field missions to some of the most remote regions of the world to highlight the plight of millions of uprooted people and to advocate for their protection. She visited Ecuador in April 2012 month for her first mission as Special Envoy. Jolie has made it her mission to give a voice to refugees and internally displaced people. She undertakes advocacy on their behalf, representing UNHCR and the High Commissioner at the diplomatic level and engaging with others on global displacement issues. Her work helps to facilitate lasting solutions for people displaced by conflict and has inspired others to take a more active role.
How Does She Relate To People?
Many people ask, "Are we like her?" or "Can ordinary people like us do what she does?" Well, the answer is yes. We may not be able to donate as much as she does, but we can still donate a little every day or every week, and it will help just as much as it helps when she donates. She has many of the same traits as me and you such as courage, leadership, and caringness.
Important Leadership Traits
To be a leader you need to have some of these traits: courage, trustworthiness, caring, organization, initiative, etc.
