I hope you are enjoying the start of the school year as we make our way through week two. It’s energizing having students back in the building as staff, students, and families acquaint themselves with one another, develop routines and engage in learning. Yes, there is LOTS to learn and more to come. Let’s enjoy the process!
A couple of reminders for our Centerview families:
- Getting to and from school: For those of you who have students riding the bus to and from school the routes are tightening up and you should find your identified times for pick-up and drop off to be on schedule. For parents dropping off and picking up, I ask for your continued patience with the construction and the lengthy lines. In both cases, we have an efficient and safe procedure given the sheer number of families making their way to Centerview each day. As you are aware, staff will remind families of those expectations and I am available if clarity is needed or questions arise. A new drop-off and pick-up map is provided below.
- Applications for Free and Reduced Price Meals: If you haven’t done so already, please review and complete (if applicable) an application for Free and Reduced Price Meals and Education Benefits for this school year. Find an application online or stop in the Centerview office to pick up a paper application and get some help. Funding is about far more than meals and supports our schools in a variety of ways.
- Health screening: Please complete a health screening at home before coming to school and keep students at home if they are sick or have symptoms. The COVID-19 hub has information about health and safety measures in place in our school. Each Wednesday, there is updated information on cases in Anoka County and in our schools. We are focused on keeping each student learning at school and grateful for your partnership.
As always, if you have questions or thoughts on the new year, please do not hesitate to reach out to your child’s teacher or the office. We are here to partner with each of you.
My best,
Mike
Arrival and Dismissal
Drop-off
- All students, not riding the bus, can be dropped off curbside at the front of the school each day between 9 and 9:20 a.m. When dropping off, please have your student(s) ready to get out once you have pulled up to the yellow curb.
- Families are not allowed to walk their student to the front of the school from the parking lot. PLEASE do not drop children off in the parking lot and have them walk up to the school on their own or expect them to enter the parking lot without an adult. There will be no crossing guard and we are keeping in mind social distancing.
- Students arriving between 9 and 9:10 a.m. will enter (with masks worn properly, covering their mouth and nose) and wait in the gymnasium (door #14) until the 9:10 a.m. bell rings when they are dismissed to their classroom. Supervision will be present in the gym, masks and social distance expectations will be in place, and students will be self-directed in their identified spot.
- Students arriving between 9:10-9:20 a.m. will enter through the front entrance (with masks worn properly, covering their mouth and nose) of the school (door #1) and immediately proceed to their classroom.
- In all drop-off situations, if a student receives a breakfast, they will pick up breakfast before heading to the classroom in the Commons Café. Students will then eat their breakfast in the classroom when they arrive.
Pick-up
- All students who not riding the bus can be picked up curbside at the front of the school each day between, 3:55 and 4:20 p.m.
- Students will be brought from their classroom to the gymnasium at 3:50 each day, continuing to wear their masks properly and social distancing.
- When families arrive curbside to pick up, authorized family and friends will be matched by number, and the student(s) will be dismissed.
- If you have not received or you need a car number, call the office for next steps – 763-600-5500
- As signs indicate, there will be no parking and leaving a car unattended on the yellow curb.
- Families are not allowed to walk up to the gymnasium to pick up their student from the front of the school parking lot or from the yellow curb.
- If there is a change to your child’s pickup routine, you must call the office before 3:15 p.m. to make the change.
- Parents are not allowed to take a child off the bus to conclude the day. Please go directly to the office if you would like to have your child taken off the bus at dismissal. At this time, it might be too late.
Technology Resources to Help You Right Now
Parent Passwords
Our troubleshooting tips on the Technology Tools, Resources and Log ins page include information on parent passwords. Here are a few tips:
- If you don't have a district parent username, please contact techsupport@district16.org
- In many cases, you are using a district created username and password, which means clicking a "forgot my password" links on pages within Campus and Schoology will not work. To change your district password, go to the SLP Password Portal. The link and other information is located under Troubleshooting tips on the Technology Tools, Resources and Log ins page.
- Seesaw is a parent-created account. If you need to change your Seesaw password, you will reset your password through the Seesaw website.
iPad Tips
- If you are having issues with your iPad not working, visit the iPad Support page.
- If you are missing any needed apps, go to Self Service to download the apps. Learn about using Self Service on an iPad: https://youtu.be/2ct5F7WYFEs
Schoology Tips
- If you are logging into Schoology from a computer, use this link. Watch this video to learn more: https://youtu.be/nw5fGcE3V30
- If you are logging into Schoology from the app, make sure to select Log In through your School and type in Spring Lake Park Schools. Watch this video to learn more: https://youtu.be/2uKgxgdQuRU
- Check your parent settings and preferences for the year to receive Schoology updates. Watch this video to learn more: https://youtu.be/sspti8sls4Y
Seesaw Tips
- To log into Seesaw, click on the Clever app, scan the QR code and click on Seesaw. (The QR code you got from the district will not work on the Seesaw Class app - only the Clever app)
- Students need to be logged in through the Seesaw Class app to see and submit work. The Seesaw Family app is for parents to view completed work and communications.
Find this information and so many more tips and video tutorials about these applications and others on the Technology Tools, Resources and Log Ins page.
