Spring MAP Testing

Big picture
During the week of March 28th - April 1st all students in grades K-5 will be taking the Reading and Math MAP Growth assessments. These MAP Growth assessments are unique, and they adapt to your child’s responses to measure your their current skill level. If your child answers a question correctly, the next question is more challenging. If they answer incorrectly, the next one is easier. These results provide a more complete picture of what your child knows and is ready to learn—whether it is on, above, or below their grade level. Since the MAP Growth assessments provide immediate and accurate information about your child’s learning, it’s easy for teachers to use this data to tailor instruction, set goals, and determine instructional groupings for students. Keep in mind we haven't taken these assessments since the Fall, so student goals may seem lofty, but we have been working and preparing your child for this all year long and they are ready.

Together we can make your child's test experience positive and successful. Here are some suggestions to help your child succeed.

  • Get plenty of sleep the night before the test
  • Eat a healthy breakfast at home or here at school. This gives the brain the energy its needs to do its very best.
  • Come to school on time and with the tools you need to be successful.
  • Have a positive attitude. Remind yourself that you have worked hard and you are ready.

Students will be testing in their classrooms throughout the week of March 28th - April 1st. Classroom teachers will be providing more specific testing information. Gently encourage your child to do their best on these tests. Thank you in advance for all your help!
