From The Principal
Parents, October is volunteer month. It is important to teach children how to give back. Volunteering will demonstrate commitment to the community and a willingness to work for betterment of others. Our staff will be giving our time to help an organization this month. There are many ways to give back: serve the homeless, help in a food pantry, help to clean up a park, serve at church. We want our students to be great citizens, and volunteering is a great way to learn how to help others. Send in pictures of your child and family volunteering during the month of October.
Lebanese poet Kahlil Gibran:
You give but little when you give of your possessions. It is when you give of yourself that you truly give. Gibran isn't telling us to stop donating our old clothes to charity, or canned goods to a food drive. These things are important. He's saying that the highest form of giving is when we give our time, talent, and energy to those in need. And we are all capable of giving something. We can tutor a younger student, help an elderly neighbor, or do an extra chore at home. We can give time to someone who is lonely, or a smile to someone who is sad. According to Gibran, this is the highest form of giving.
Today, be generous and share yourself with others.
