FEMEA Board Member Spotlight - Luis Rios, District 8 Chair
Our FEMEA Board Member Spotlight for the month of October is Luis Rios, the District Chair for District 8! Luis lives in Lakeland, Florida and is the Music Teacher at Spessard L. Holland Elementary School. Luis is in his second year of serving on the FEMEA board and we are incredibly thankful to have him on our team! When asked about his passion and vision for FEMEA, Luis said "My district has a motto that says, "students first". Everything that we do is with the students in mind. I believe that this goes hand-in-hand with FEMEA's mission, particularly the components of high quality and comprehensive music education. As a district chair, I try to focus on providing teachers with the support needed to operate at a high quality level and support them in the ways needed to provide comprehensive music education to their students. Regardless of whether that is information regarding district and state level events, or simply providing one-on-one support in the classroom, I want to be available as a resource for teachers. At the end of the day, FEMEA and FMEA are about empowering and supporting all teachers. If teachers are given support and resources, then the students will ultimately be the benefactors."
