Do students understand better reading on a device or printed texts?
When reading on a device a recent study suggests it is best for
- shorter pieces of text
- texts that do not require deeper thinking
For longer texts that require deeper thinking it is suggested that you have a physical printed text you can hold in your hands. We tend to read quicker on devices, and just get a basic understanding of the content. We tend to remember less when reading on a device.
More research is needed on this for younger readers!
