PIPES
Dear Parents,
As our unit on buildings comes to an end, we have introduced the last topic related to our study which was Pipes. Exploration and Investigation is the main focus of the Creative Curriculum and this week we allowed our student to do just this! We began by asking, “what do we know about pipes?” Children shared their ideas on what they are, their uses, and where we can find them. The words tubes, cylinder, hollow, water system came up.
On Tuesday, we made a list together of the places you might find pipes and what their function might be. We asked questions such as "Are they for water or something else?", "Do they bring water in or take water out?", and “Are they for clean water or dirty water?"
We then proceeded to investigate pipes in our school. Children were in charge of finding pipes, taking pictures, and discuss about their uses.
Children have been working together in the different centers using item related to this unit: big pipes in blocks, small pipes in toys and games and a fun sand activity in Discovery.
We will continue our preparation for Art Show, alongside the celebration of Earth Week!
Sneak Peak of the Canvas that will be auctioned on the Art Show!
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Spanish Week
Next week Panamanian schools celebrate Spanish week. Traditionally the library has hosted a book sale this week. This year the book sale will take place from Monday 23-25. We will have two vendors offering a variety of book choices in Spanish and a few in English.
Thanks,
COUNSELORS
Dear Parents,
Mark your calendars! Next Monday, April 23rd @ 10:00 am we will be presenting “Empathy and Intent” in the ES conference room. It will be our fifth Conscious Discipline parent coffee and we hope to see you all there. We are excited to continue delivering our presentations both in English and Spanish.
We will be providing you some important information about the different strategies we can use to help ourselves and our children identify appropriate venues to explore empathy during difficult times. Empathy will allow us to practice conscious emotional regulation, which is a crucial skill to develop when it comes to effective relationships. As we mentioned in our earlier presentations, it is very important for us to gain more awareness of our actions and therefore, respond instead of react to others. This is key to making effective connections with our children and those around us.
We understand how difficult it may be at times to make room in tight schedules, but we hope you are able to attend our parent coffee coming up soon.
Kindly,
ES Counselors
