Keeping the Crew up to Date! Volume 2 Issue 10 - 10/23/22
Greetings Clipper Nation!
I know it is hard to believe, but we are just ten days away from the end of the first term. Please continue encouraging your students to stay strong and get their grades as high as possible over the next ten days. Just as we are competitive in sports, I would like to see JMB dominate academically. Let's show the other schools how great we are!
Attention parents of students enrolled in a Full year or semester 1 AP class, the deadline to sign up for the AP exam in May is this Friday, October 28th. Students must not only register for the test in Collegeboard, but they must also make a payment in my payments plus. Please do not wait until the last minute to complete this. Any payment made after October 28th will also include a $40 late fee per Collegeboard. There are NO exceptions. Most importantly, there have been changes to a few exams. English Literature, English Language, World History, US History, and Computer Science Principles will now be administered digitally this May. Students will learn more about it this week in their AP class. Please get in touch with Ms. Cook, our test coordinator, if you have any questions or issues signing up. ccook@wcboe.org
JMB wants to give back, and we want to connect with our community. If you are a parent or guardian of a student at JMB and you are also a veteran, please take a minute to complete the following form. https://forms.gle/iPtudEJQpzYhHEwB6
In case you have not had a chance to meet the entire JMB admin team. Check out the photo below. This year's team has been super excited about the great start to the year, and I am honored to be surrounded by such a great team. Pictured below from left to right: Devin Smith (Dean of Students), Brent Lewis (Assistant Principal), Alison Dunn (Assistant Principal), me (Principal), Sarah Harmon (Assistant Principal), and Greg Lasinski (Dean of Students). If you need anything, be sure to reach out, as we are here to support all of JMB, which includes staff, students, and parents.

Late to School
If you know your student will be late for school, please send them with a note so we can excuse their lateness. Students start earning referrals on the fourth lateness to school.
Parking Permits
Update - Starting in October students will receive warnings if they are parking without a parking permit. Later in the month if students are still parking without a parking permit stickers will be placed on windshields.
Students enrolled in AP Courses
For students enrolled in a semester one or full year AP course: While AP exams will not be until May, the deadline to register and pay for exams is quickly approaching. If a student plans to take an AP exam, they need to complete two steps. First, they need to indicate they are taking the exam in their College Board AP classroom account. Then, they need to go to MyPaymentsPlus and pay the fee for the exam. The regular cost of each exam is $97, and the cost for FARMS students is $20. Students need to complete this process for each AP exam they plan on taking. If a student does not plan on taking the AP exam for their AP course, they should go to their College Board AP classroom account and indicate that they are not. The deadline for registering AND paying is Friday, October 28th. There is a $40 late fee for registrations after October 28th. October 28th is the deadline for semester 1 and full year courses only. Semester two sign-ups will take place in February. For questions, please contact the testing coordinator, Ms. Cook.

College Essay Support
We have good news for seniors who are working on their college essays! Through the Title IV grant, Ms. Cahall and Mrs. Taylor will be available to review your college essays and provide feedback starting on Monday, October 3rd – Saturday, December 31st.
Here’s how it works: You will need to email the teacher you would like to work with letting them know you would like for them to review your essay. They will then send you information so that you can upload your essay, the writing prompt or question that you are responding to along with any questions or comments about the essay you have sent them. The teacher will add you in an assignment on Google Classroom where all communication about your essay will occur.
Contact information for Participating Teachers:
Mrs. Chelsea Taylor: chtaylor@wcboe.org
Ms. Jennifer Cahall: jcahall@wcboe.org
Of course if there is another teacher you would like to have review your essays you are welcome to contact them, but Mrs. Taylor and Ms. Cahall are the teachers that are part of this project. They are looking forward to reading your essays and supporting you through this process!

How to Stay in the Know?
The best way to stay in the know is to make sure we have accurate information on file. Please look over all the information on the Student Personal Data and Enrollment Information Form as this is the information we currently have on file for you. Make any corrections to the form in blue. If you need additional space for emergency contact use a separate sheet of paper. Sign the back of the form and return it to the school. If you prefer to fill out a new form you can find a copy on our website.
